Tastes sour and malty. Smoky. Fullk hops aftertaste with an alcohol bite. A complex malty brew but medium bodied.
Had this for the first time last night. Took a six-pack down to Young’s Lobster Pound and drank out of the bottle with a lobster dinner. Damn good out of the bottle and even better tonight out of a proper glass.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 21, 2005 Delicous and refreshing. Hops and balance. The best I’ve had from Geary’s. A great piece to have a conversation with at a bar. joeycamaro (7), USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 18, 2005 One of the better beers I’ve had lately. A nice mixing of both hops and malt, with a faint alcohol bite to it. A bit strong for a seesoin beer, but a taste that gets better with every sip.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 2, 2005 Draft at Bukowski, Boston. Poured amber with a thick fluffy head. Very sweet malt aroma. Taste is very sweet in the beginning, less so as you drink it. Moderate earthy hop flavor. Mild alcohol bite. Good beer. cfranz (261), Acton, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 23, 2005 I like this beer a lot. Pours a deep amber brown red with a small white head. Has a nice hoppy taste that is balanced with some mild malty sweetness. I would make this a session beer during the winter. It packs something of a kick. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 21, 2005 Reddish amber color with a thin, tightly bubble cream colored head. Sweet malty nose. Lots of toffee and caramel sweet flavors with some vanilla and faint wood. Some salt in the finish. My bottle had a different label, and did not have a year on it like other Hampshire Special Ales do, but I’m confident it is the same beer. tbarnette (105), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
