Clear light copper with shy white head that recedes to ring. Caramel again in the flavour with some balancing bitterness. This is a well-brewed beer if somewhat run of the mill. Bottle (sampled at Mondial 2004). Original rating (6-2-7-2-12=2.9). Resampled with MartinT and Rastacouere with largely the same impressions but a higher score (7-3-8-3-15=3.6). andyo (1), Virginia, USA does not count | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 24, 2004 Small disappearing head. No lace. Strong musty/alcoholic aroma. Taste is very strong with some faint brownsugar sweetness. A nice beer that I would rather try on tap. jamesp (13), Bristow, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 21, 2004 Nice smallish head. I’m halfway through it now and there’s still some there. Pours a nice clear amber color. Definite hop finish on the palate..I’d never turn one down, but I don’t find it that remarkable. VTHopHead (920), Barre, Vermont, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 25, 2004 (Bottle/Draft) Much better as a draft beer. The bottled version had a slightly "musty" aroma and taste that I did not like very much. Dark reddish amber color and has a slightly sweet taste. Malty with some hop bite, particularly in the finish, with a detectable alcohol. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2004 Pours a clear red with a thick, off-white head; the head lasts somewhat, like the other Geary's brews. Some fruitiness to the aroma but not a whole lot there. Pretty sweet, but I just cannot pick particular flavors out of this; perhaps I'm just not ready for this. A good dose of hops and bitterness at the end. Alcohol detectable. maeib (4737), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 7, 2004 On tap - David Copperfields NYC. Very little aroma and a brownish colour. The taste is quite reminiscent of a Belgian Ale (or is it Gales HSB?) with its predominance of candy sugar. Drinkable DYCSoccer17 (2192), Davis, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 6, 2004 Aroma is pretty hoppy with a sweetness in there as well. Myabe some orange/cherry. Pours a tranparent mahogany with a small slightly yellowish head that dissapears quite fast. Start is malty and sweet with hints of what I believe are cherry in the middle. This finishes with a nice hop kick and a nice little bitterness at the end. Good work. Could stand to use the slightest more body.
