Dec 24, 2003 Poured a copper color with a bubbly off white head. Spicy aroma of hops and caramel, some fruitiness as well. Caramel and bready malt taste followed by a bittering hop taste in the end. Rather round in the mouth, this was fairly decent

Dec 12, 2003 Copper hue with a small frothy head and little lace. Aroma was vinous in nature, hints of cherry, grape, oak wood, pine, spice and leather yeast esters. Sweet malty traditional taste upfront with a bitter hop balance. A acidic tart and spicy finish. The mouthfeel was crisp and lively, but did notice some alcohol presence. Nice solid beer, you can do much worse. Grab yourself one.

Dec 10, 2003 Sparkling ruby with a foamy off-white head. The aroma is a huge caramel, and citrusy hops. Bready falvor is balanced by a good amount of bitterness. The hops are quite prevalant throughout. The body is medium and the alcohol really is quite noticeable. A pretty nice beer.

Dec 8, 2003 Updated: Apr 7, 2009Bottle (2002) ... The very definition of an amber ale with a nice, creamy, khaki-colored head. Lots of caramel, butterscotch, toffee and vineous notes (tawny Port) in the nose. Well-bittered flavor with more caramel and toffee.
Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Nice, clean, dry finish. Good stuff!

Dec 6, 2003 Deep copper with very little off-white head. Roasted hoppy nose. Nice citrus with great balance to the malt. I was really suprised at how much I liked it. Good roast finish.

Nov 30, 2003 Clear copper with small beige head. Aroma is caramel and floral, some orange. Taste is caramel, earthy, floral, chocolate, light orange. Creamy, medium-full body.

Nov 26, 2003 Clear copper color with a one inch ivory colored head of smooth, thick fluff that faded super fast to a thick skim and fast dripping lace. Aroma is faint of woodish dryness with touches of leafy dry hops, light caramel, and dulled citrus. Taste is mild and subdued, with lightly sweet roasty/toasty breadish malts, lightly playing hop bitterness lending a bit of leafyness and citrus. Notes of dry wood. Malts build a bit more into the finish with some light chewyness and sweet tang of fruits that are hard to distinguish, pear maybe? Feel is quite smooth and medium bodied with an easy carbonation, finishes a bit crisp with lingering malted sweetness. An OK Old Strong Ale if there ever was one.
