| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 13, 2008 From a 12 fl. oz. bottle but there is no lot code or date on it that I can see. Acquired in May 2008. Attractive ruby red-caramel colored pour. Head dissipates quickly. I notice more malts on the nose than hops. Medium body. The flavor has a hint of chocolate but I would say it is more malted. I do not taste much alcohol and that is pleasing to me. A quality brew. obguthr (1067), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 26, 2008 Weak lemon grass aroma. Clear golden, no head. Tastes a bit like battery acid and lemon with candy underneath. Wheat and grass finish. Quite tart initially, quickly yielding to a pleasant bitterness. Brewbie (231), New York, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 13, 2008 Bottle (12oz). Clear bright ruby pour, average head - 4/5 for that lovely colour. Sweet malt with cherry and wood, light alcohol, floral and quite reminiscent of a mild Fullers Vintage Ale. Taste - follows - pungent floral bitterness, apricot and sweet citrus malt, increasing alcohol bitterness as it warms. Fairly thick body, syrupy and somewhat boozy in the finish - overall quite sweet, but it’s slightly balanced. Really reminded me of an ESA or English BW. changeup45 (802), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2008 Sampled this on Draft. Strong Ale. Poured an amber color with a relatively thick head and quite a bit of lacing. Quite malty and sour with a malty, bitter aftertaste that lingers a little while. Overall, a strong and malty but not a bad beer. I’d get it again jleonard11 (3), winthrop, Massachusetts, USA does not count | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Mediocre at best. A little too sweet for my liking, with a very unusual aftertaste. I won’t go in depth for it was covered well in previous ratings. I expected this to be more like an english style pale ale. I was wrong. nuplastikk (1227), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 25, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a transparent, amber-orange color. Very sweet and malty, with a well balanced hop backbone. The aftertaste is a little odd, with a lingering spicy alcohol tinge. Almost a Barleywine in taste. Piny and rich. Would be interesting to try on draft. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2008 Dark copper pour, small white head. Aroma is bready and sweet malts. Flavor is sweet malts, caramel bigtime, some toasted malts and a touch of chocolate. Hoppy with some citrus undertones. Sticky and medium bodied it’s basically a weaker barleywine. Not bad.
