Strong hops aroma: grapefruit and orange blossoms. Bright bronze appearance with a white ring. Slightly salty grapefruit hops flavour with some piny bitterness that balances medium residual sweetness. Notes of apricot and celery. Medium body, medium carbonation, lasting bitterness. natejgood (189), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 17, 2009 Pours a medium to dark brow/golden color. The head is an off white made of small bubbles. It doesn’t disappear immediately, but it is pretty quick. The aroma is pretty much all hops with maybe a hint of citrus fruit. The taste is quick surprising for an imperial IPA, especially after the aroma. It is fairly malty and sweet. There is a bit of hoppiness, but it is overwhelmed by the other flavors. The flavor isn’t bad, it’s just not what I look for in an imperial IPA. This beer also tastes a little high alcohol. I would have rated this beer higher is it was another type of beer. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 28, 2009 Nice bright red color, clear. Sweet floral hop aroma, slightly metallic. Flavor doesn’t match the complexity of the aroma, more watery than I had hoped. Not very bitter for an Imperial IPA, but it works for the overall lightness of this brew. Pours very dark for a DIPA, a deep clear amber with a big creamy white head that shows great retention and lacing. It’s a very appetizing looking brew.
The aroma is that of a balanced DIPA. It’s got plenty of citrus hops including oranges and grapefruits but the caramel malt sweetness is also a major player in the nose.
The taste is even sweeter than the aroma suggests with the sweet caramel malts really dominating the taste. There is some earthy hops that show throughout as well with a slight bitterness in the finish. In addition, there is a sweet vanilla type sweetness that shows up in the finish.
The mouthfeel is very smooth and not nearly as bitter as I was expecting. There is good carbonation and it’s medium bodied.
This is a nice, drinkable DIPA but the hop profile is probably not quite as significant as I would like, even for a balanced DIPA. Nonetheless, a nice English-style DIPA. ruggedman (619), Portland, Maine, USA

It’s now bottled, but dont fall for that, get this on tap, its significantly better that way!
The aroma is a bunch of floral piney hops, centennials maybe. Flavor is nice and bitter with a fair malt back bone to give it the needed oomph. I’m glad they re-released this because it was the only Geary’s brew I had managed to not track down for some time. Get it when you see it, especially on tap!
