Commercial Description:
Faithfully recreated by Geary's, this classic English style has a deep mahogany color and a restrained roasted malt flavor. The result is rich and complex, yet smooth and refreshing.

Aroma = Flat and somewhat malty. Color = Murky brown. Flavor = Drinkable. Sour with hints of coffee. Palate = Flat Overall this beer is kinda flat. Not terrible, but nothing memorable. There was no head. No lacing on the glass. Very thin.

Bottle. Pours dark brown. Aroma is roasty malts, coffee, some nuttiness. Doesn’t attempt anything special, but delivers what a solid porter should be.

Draught. Very dark brown color with a light brown foamy head. Aroma of dark roast coffee-like malts with a bit of yeastiness wafting up as well. Roasty malt flavor, slightly bitter burnt coffee finish. Body kind of thin, even a bit watery. OK, nothing special.

Blackish pour, moderate head, average lacing and retention. Aroma is soft chocolate with caramel, lesser notes of roast and coffee. Flavor brings this, very soft creamy mouthfeel with a lightly sweet finish. If only it wasn’t borderline watery. Good as it is, but close to kickass.

Bottle. Pours pretty dark, near black, with a quaint tan head. The aroma is chewy of toffee and hazelnuts with a fair level of roastiness. The mouthfeel is slightly thinner than the nose would lead me to believe, but it’s good. It’s slightly creamy with more toffee in the mouth. The porter finishes quick and midly sweet with a hint of ashiness. There is pretty low bitterness compared to other English style porters.

Beautiful pour, auburn, dark, not too much in the way of a head. Anise. Smoke. Coffee. Liquorice. nuttella. The back of my mouth felt and tasted reminiscent of Raki-an albanian aperitif) Palate: much more mainstream than the complex flavors, quite tangy.
