Anise. Smoke. Coffee. Liquorice. nuttella. The back of my mouth felt and tasted reminiscent of Raki-an albanian aperitif)
Palate: much more mainstream than the complex flavors, quite tangy. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA

Dark brown body with red highlights, tan flufy head, but I did have an aggressive pour. Nose is a bit flat? Some coffee and chocolate. Taste was sirprisingly sweet, and dry. There is a semi-sweet after taste. This was a decent porter, but nice IMHO. SwillNoMore (105), USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 15, 2006 Bottle, from mug. Color is nearly opaque black, with faint ruddy hues seen against strong light. The tan head is highly aerated and aggressively dissipating, leaving no lace. Aroma is immediately chocolate, with sweet notes of wine emerging as it warms. Medium-light body with a thin texture and mild carbonation. Flavor is just as the brewer described: "restrained roasted malt." Finishes with a coffee bitterness. I get the impression of a macro brewer attempting to make a craft beer. The result is weak, over processed and boring. alobar (1026), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 2, 2006 Pours a dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and some chocolate. Taste is of roasted malts, coffee, espresso, and chocolate. Not a bad porter. HighGravity (890), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 29, 2006 This is a deep dark roasty ale that has a nice coffee bouquet. The body ranges from light to medium. Fortunately, the diacetyl is held at bay. Overall, this is a solid porter for people who like the coffeeish types. The hops play a balancing role. Acidity is abundant and welcomed on the finish. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Aromas of coffee, milk chocolate, some light roast, and a tad bit of sourness. Flavor is loaded with roasted notes, some coffee there, light chocolate, and a somewhat bitter coffee finish. Smooth and medium bodied on the palate. Fair carbonation. Pretty tasty... xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA

Well malted taste with some brown sugar, tad of chocolate, bit of coffee, roast, and nutty like a brown.Good representation of the style.Medium mouthfeel. Satisfying. Not too bitter, just a bit of hops stays on the lips.
