Taste is sweet, full of chocolate, and has a nice malty backbone to it. Easy to drink, perhaps too easy, and a little bit too thin for me to enjoy like I do with most porters. Worth trying, not really worth coming back to. MattShizzle (385), Bernville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 26, 2006 Bottle, from sampler pack. Yeah, the picture is of the Pale Ale. I mostly lik this, though it could stand to be a little stronger (in body and alcohol.) Nice roasty taste. ElPresidente1984 (173), Maine, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 26, 2006 First off, the picture is not of the london porter, its the pale ale. bought a bottle of this at RSVP. pours dark brown with a medium-small head. aroma was prety nice with the standard porter type things like malt, coffee etc. the flavor seemed lkinda lacking. it might have been my glass, but it seemed to have a nasty metalic aftertaste which was not good at all. seemed a little watery for my taste. got nothin on anchor’s porter NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA

My 100th Porter

Aroma is a little light, but there are roasty coffee and chocolate notes in there. Black with a quickly diminishing tan head...it’s just a thin film before you can really appreciate it. Fore flavor is also light touching on watery with weak coffee notes, mild chocolate and some nutty notes. Feels like a black brown ale with some coffee added. It’s still tasty though if a little basic. jason (1624), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Feb 9, 2006 Bottle. Dark body with minimum head to it. Smooth finish with decent tatse. Nothing great but not bad. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 8, 2006 Pours to a deep brown to black color, with a tight white head that fades, and a moderate amount of carbontion. The nose is excellent on this beer with lots of good aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, and mild roast. The palate is firm with good dark malt flavors, paired with a hint of currant fruitiness, and flavors of mild coffee. This beer finishes mildly roasty and dry, with a nice touch of hop bitterness. Very well done brown porter, that makes a great pint, or a great match to shell fish, or hearty pub grub. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 30, 2005 Not much head to speak of, smell hints at chocolate. Black body. Doesn’t taste too bad, kind of a smoked hoppy flavor to it with hints of other things. Taste reminds me of Gritty’s stout, but not quite as strong... Similar to Sebago stout too come to think of it. Not bad. Not my favorite, but something I’ll probably have again from time to time. ehhdayton (1113), USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 2, 2005 The beer pours a nice dark brown with a long lasting tan head. The aroma is of roasted and chocolate malt. Unfortunately the taste was only lightly roasted and seemed to be watered down.
