Commercial Description:
Faithfully recreated by Geary's, this classic English style has a deep mahogany color and a restrained roasted malt flavor. The result is rich and complex, yet smooth and refreshing.

(12 oz bottle) Pours very dark brown, beige head. Some lacing, some of head kind of coagulates and floats on surface in globs. Mouthfeel a bit watery but not bad. Tastes pretty ho-hum, I was getting a vegetable-like aftertaste, like I’ve tasted in homebrew.

this was a nice porter....aroma is of a true baltic porter...hints of vanilla, cream, and (of course) chocolate and coffee...flavor wasnt as complex, but still nice....a dry roasted flavor of chocolate and coffee, but missing the cream that was dominant in the nose...good beer

2004 bottle consumed on 6/22/2005. Brown cola, bubbly, with mahogany throughout and auburn edges. Head immediately fizzles to ring. No lacing. Later in the pour, however, after it has warmed, a good-sized, tan head does form, with moderate retention, but still no lacing. Very dry, roasty aroma, with light acidity. English yeast and an English style porter (in case you couldnt tell by the name). Brown bread in the nose as well. Flavor of salty, brown pretzels, pumpernickel bagels. Lightly spicy hops, almost getting clove-like notes as well. Very earthy and dry to the last drop. Filtered, which leads to a lightly peppery carbonation and loose, thin mouthfeel. English style porters should NOT be filtered (well, no beers should be filtered, IMO, but especially not these).

Bottle. Nearly black with a thin foamy brown head. Nose: espresso and molasses. Taste: sweetened espresso, sarsaparilla, raisons, figs, almonds, hazelnuts and cocoa. A pleasing example of the style.

Absolutely delicious. A perfect porter done with just the right amount of coffee and chocolate flavors present. There’s even a hint of some fruit and nut tastes present but they’re so well balanced into the beer that it’s hard to pick out. This is a must have for the Geary’s fan.

Tap at Redbones: Opaque color, medium layer of a head. Very light chocolate, coffee nose. Very light and week band aid clay taste.

Very dark brown, almost black, w/ thick, creamy finger of light brown foam. Roasty, milk chocolate aroma w/ notes of espresso & fruit (raspberry?). Full-medium bodied. Roasty, burnt flavour of chocolate & coffee w/ a mild lactic sweetness & an earthy bitter, charred wood finish.

Deep reddish-brown pour with a smallish tan head. Roast chocolate aroma. Some sweet fruit in the palate. Not terribly complex. Bitterness in the finish is a little sour.
