| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jan 7, 2004 Poured a dark ruby, thin tan head, fully diminishing. Very nice aroma of cocoa, malt, and coffee. Disappointingly weak flavor of coffee and roasted malt. Thin for the style, tingly on the tongue. Could use some work; a fuller body might bring out that flavor some more. P-tor44 (886), Anchorage, Alaska, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Dec 17, 2003 Strong nose, burnt malt, ultra rich carmel, semi sweet chocolate. Very dark with a small head, burnt malts, moderately bitter choc. Slight butterscotch, quite good even if its slightly thin. crazyvin (1252), New York, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 30, 2003 Very dry and ashy beer. Somewhat chocolately, with a strong roasted malt essence. I wouldn't say this is even close to the Fullers in flavor or body. No head, dark brown, opaque body. Smells delightfullly like coffee and molasses. notalush (2659), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 30, 2003 This is aptly named "London Porter," because this could almost (key word, almost) be passed off as Fuller's porter - it has an inviting aroma of coffee, dark fruits and sweet maltiness - the flavor is very close to Fuller's - lots of coffee, roastiness, some prunes, just a hint of sweetness - however, it falls short of Fuller's in two ways - one is the total lack of head, making the appearance not as inviting as it could be - second is the somewhat thin mouthfeel for the style - otherwise this is great - a porter that comes dangerously close to cloning one of the best. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 6, 2003 Darkened prune with slight bronze hued highlights. Dense ring of small, ashen bubbles. Roasty nose of cocoa, charcoal, perfume, sea salt, and heavily roasted coffee beans. Whispers of caramel, flowers, blackberries, and prunes. Soft, spongy mouthfeel. Large bubbled carbonation. Bittersweet chocolate flavors are matched with an adequate dose of earthy hops. Subtle quenching acidity, which works really well here, appears before a hint of chalk, candied black currants, must, and beautifully toasted dark malts. Finishes earthy and slightly woody, with an underlying baker’s chocolate, dried plum mixture. Phenols emerge post-finish. Sure it's a straightforward example, in its roasted, chocolaty, and fruity characteristics, but a rather tasty one. bluemeow76 (693), Lewis Center, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 4, 2003 Pours a dark brown with a medium light beige head. Thin lacing. Aroma is full of the typical chocolate, roasted nuts and coffee. The flavor matched the aroma. Decent porter, not great.
