Aroma Roasted coffee, notes of dark chocolate malty aroma. The body is weak & thin, reminds me of drinking a soda (but without the syrupy taste). I do get a hint of chocolate, slight roasty, but not much else. Dry texture. It needs a little more complexity on the palate as well as a decrease in the carbonation slightly. The fizzyness was unpleasnt to me for this porter. Tmoney99 (4742), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 16, 2007 Bottle from Belo Vino. Pours black color with an average frothy brown head that was diminished slowly with good lacing. Moderate roasted coffee malt aroma. Medium body with a dry texture. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good drinkable beer. mbrandon2w (109), Worcester, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 13, 2007 very very dark, almost no light gets through. one finger tan head. aroma slightly of chocolate, hints of roastiness. medium bottery, touch watery. Good flavor, not too roasty, slight chocolate flavor. Flavor could be a little bolder, but it’s a nice sessionable porter. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 7, 2007 4/07/2007: Geary’s London Porter pours a clear dark brown with reddish hues. It has a thin and fizzy mocha-colored head at first that quickly diminishes to leave a mocha-colored ring around the edge of the glass. The aroma and flavor are watered down roasted malt and chocolate. There is also some dry, yeasty, fermented dark malt extract sourness in the finish which is luckily short-lived. The palate is watery and over-carbonated. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it seems that somebody forgot the flavor or maybe just added too much water! This beer has a ways to go before I would deem it "rich and complex"...

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 28, 2007 Aroma of musty old molasses, dusty cane sugar, slight peanut. Dry, refreshing, burnt taste. Relaxed and subtle but there is a bit of the bite from this perhaps being a bit over-kilned. Not bad. hopdog (5576), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 25, 2007 12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, and some caramel. Tastes of roast, burnt malts, and a light coffee finish. Drinkable porter that I found to be a tad on the ’boring’ side. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 26, 2007 Dark brown, almost black color with very little tan head. Some roasted malts in the aroma. Imparting a somewhat coffee like aroma. Slight fresh coffee flavor with a unpleasant metallic finish and a thin body. The New York Times called this the best porter. The New York Times was wrong. tronraner (1916), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 26, 2007 Bottle. Pours garnet-black with a big beige head. The aroma is soft of molasses and roast grain. Upon sipping, I notice that the body is somewhat lacking. The flavor is faint earthy hops and slight roastiness. Mildly dry finish, some caramel notes. Nothing spectacular.
