Commercial Description:
Our flagship pale is a classic British pale ale with a nod to the legendary beers of Burton-on-Trent. Copper-colored, dry, clean and crisp with lots of late hope taste in an appetizing complex with ale fruitiness from imported Hampshire yeast.
Ingredients: Two row English malt (pale, crystal and chocolate); Cascade, Mt Hood, Tettnang and Fuggle Hops.

Bottle - medium amber color - bubly body with a medium, lasting head. Slightly sweet & perfumy aroma. Flavor is non-descript - slightly sweet & malty, a little dry with some hops sprinkled in. Slightly astringent.

12 oz. bottle at Flat Rock Saloon. Pours copper with thin head that left a glob or two of lacing. Weak nose. Light malty flavor with minimal hop character. Not a big EPA fan.

Specialty brew only available on tap at Jameson’s Tavern in Freeport, ME (right next door to L.L. Bean). This was a very enjoyable, malty sweet, copper colored amber/altbier with a nice balance of noble hops and medium body.

Bottle: Bright orange with a shiny appeal and a respectable poofy head. Light but sharp aroma. Like a bully in the schoolyard, the sharp hops take over the playground on your tongue, but not in an overpowering way. This is an exceptionally balanced copper ale, more active on the tongue than the flatter English cousins, and not quite as agressive as many American pale’s, this is perfectly on the fence between.

This was agood, straight midling pale. Not to hoppy, not overly bitter. Average brew.

Usual appearance average head and lacing. The aroma was somewhat biscuity with some herbal hop tones and toffee. The flavor was pretty smooth, nice blend of caramel and toffee in the malts, an overall fruitiness typical of an EPA, and a soft bitter finish of mostly bittering hops that had a touch of pine/resinous notes to them. I thought this was gonna be more highly rated after drinking it, but I guess not. Pretty smooth and enjoyable. Great local upgrade over Bass, imo.

Aroma sweet, weak, not at all hoppy. Texture fizzy, thin. There are very little hops in this brew. This tastes only slightly better than a macro-brew; the malt is very poor quality, macro-like, with a slight unpleasant sourness to it, and a tad too sweet. Overall, the beer is weak, watery, mediocre. I would not get it again.
