No head, dark copper body. The flavor is quite full and malty, decently balanced. Warm and toasty. notalush (2669), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 17, 2004 This is one of the best summer ales I’ve every had - straw color with moderate lacing - spicy, grainy aroma - this tastes much like a milder version of their hampshire special ale, it has the same caramel flavor and roastiness - this is much lighter, and has a much more bready, grainy, spicy character, more befitting of the season - the finish is crisp, clean and mildly bitter. beerslayer (753), New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 19, 2004 Chill haze pale gold color, somewhat getting close to an amber hue, but not nearly enough. A waffer thin white cap adorns the top quickly disappearing to leave a very thin collar and very little lacing sticks. Aroma is mild and a bit subdued of a sweet bready maltyness and butter with a small hint of grassy hops. Taste is good, a bit sharp of hop spice and carbonation upon first notice. Surrounding it quickly is a nice buttery and dulled fruit maltyness. Malts seem to have the leg up on this one. A bit bready and chewy around the corners, yet keeps a little zip of yeast grab and hop spice right in the middle of the palate. Feel is about medium bodied, chewy and buttery with a certain carbonation hold, but there’s a short bit of emptyness just before the finish. Malts keep it interesting and the front and middle is solid. Sweet, with a certain sharpness and crispness quality to it. A very unique amber, more fruity, then toasty, nearly maibock in likeness really. Yankovitch333 (612), Chesapeake City, Maryland, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 17, 2004 Poured a light amber with a medium sized white head. Citrus fruits and mild hops on the nose. Nice lemony and fruity flavor. Much better than I expected. And pretty decent for crappy style. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

It smells very hoppy. Very nice flavor actually, with a nice bitterness that isn't overpowering. Doesn't seem very much like summer though. Some floral notes. OK
