Unlike some I’ve had that are just glorified pale lagers, this is a full bodied, full flavored example of the style. Spicy and moderately bitter. Lots of orange. Sweetness is pretty apparent, somewhat compromising the crispness that should be present. Full bodied and slightly syrupy. Looks really nice in the glass and has some great flavors, but needs the edges rounded out a bit.

Full on smooth refreshing taste, moderate euro hops and great pale malt flavors. Perfect body from the cask, and extremely drinkable. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Aromas mostly of frosted flakes, but a little apple there too. Flavor is frosted flakes mostly as well but a little apple here too and some light touches of honey. Some grassy hop notes finish off each sip. Well carbonated with a somewhat fizzy mouthfeel. Not bad.. just not memorable either.. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 26, 2007 Bottle. Poured a bright amber with a frothy off-white head. Fruity light ale estery aromas of apple/pear with some cereal, pollen and grass. Mildly sweet honeyed cereal malt flavor with some flowery esters and grassy hops. Nice initial flavors collapsed into a lingering cardboardy aftertaste after a while. More golden ale than kolsch, and nothing special at that. haddon90 (1036), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2007 Purchased this 6-pack from Kresson Liquors in Haddonfield, NJ. Pours a copper color with a thin white head. I didn’t really read anything about this, as I was expecting a wheat ale or something. Yeah, totally wrong! Bready, wheat aroma with a hint of hops. Very sharp and crisp taste. Has a bite to it. Hint of caramel, with a good foundation of hops and malt. A little heavier than a true kolsch. But still pretty good. jimhilt (1682), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2007 Pours a five-finger white head that fades quickly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Crystal clear amber color. Hoppy nose. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Flavor is slightly bready but mostly hops, lingering bitter aftertaste. $1.50 for a 12oz bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me. SwillNoMore (105), USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 15, 2007 Bottle, from Duvel tulip, at cellar temp. Crystal clear reddish gold body. Dissipating, frothy, slightly off-white head; weak lacing. Bready aroma, notes of citrus and spice, black pepper; quite interesting. Medium-light body, lightly creamy texture, soft carbonation. A sweet caramel foundation with a mild hoppy bite. Dry finish. I’m not much of a Geary’s fan, but this wasn’t bad. I can tell this would be quite refreshing served cold on a hot day. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 13, 2007 Nothing but a light and refreshing summer ale. Poured yellow clear smelled a little sour, citrus lemony and had a little full body to it. Kind of malty in a weird way.
