Commercial Description:
The style of our summer ale is traditionally European, similar to a German kolsch: full bodied with a spicy hop tang and a rich, crystal clear golden color. Alcohol content is approximately 6% by volume.
Ingredients: Two row English malt (clarity, wheat and caramalt); Magnum, Tettnang and Saaz hops.

I am not that enamored with this beer. Very heavy alcohol taste and a long sour finish. Kind of sweet and malty - some lemon tones. Not the kind of beer I can swig during this heat wave.

Any first impressions?
-A generous head of foam recedes to a ring around the transparent honey glaze.
-Sweet mango esters are subtle in the nose, not engaging, dozing off into the light grain.
-Banana and peachy fruitiness sweeten the mild earth sturdiness.
-The body is very nicely fed, and the frothy carbonation works with it.

What if you dig deeper?
-It finishes smoothly, with some grainy sweetness, and the shadow of citrusy hops.
-The fruity sweetness initially perceived soon takes the form of honey.
-This is a very well-brewed kölsch, but fails to interest me in the long run.

Bottle; no date.

Golden to amber color with a moderate dissipating heavy cream colored head. SOme funky ester aromas, with mild bubblegum and blue cheese. LIght brown sugar and vanilla yogurt as well. Creamy in the front with a a light zip in the finish. Flavors seem to be all over the place with currants, yogurt, figs, caramel malt, mild lemon zest and herbs. Things just didn’t come together for me in this brew.

Pours a slightly orange yellowish color with a small white frosty lacing that fades away rather quickly. Aroma is tangy with hints of wheat and lemon. Taste is lemony with bits of wheat, malt and bready yeast. A good beer for a hot day.

A great summer beer! Not too heavy and no fruity distractions, just a nice smooth summer brew! I am very impressed with it because it has a little kick but nothing too powerful.

Nice strong kolsch. Darker than usual appearance makes this take on a soft ale done with a bit of zing. Good summer ale.

Bottle - Poured a darkish amber in color with an almost non-existent whitish head. Aroma is a triffle skunky with hints of bready yeast... the hops should have been where the "skunk" was. Flavor is slightly sour (style) and a pleasent mix of spicy hops and caramel malts... the malt is minor compared to the hops. Alcohol, unfortunately, is apparent. OK, but not great...

12oz bottle courtesy of my well-travelled neighbor. Copper color in the glass with a nice thick foamy head that dissapates quickly. Aroma is caramel/bread/malt with a slight alcohol nose. Not much hop aroma. Slight malty/breadiness on the palate. A good dose of caramel that lingers on the tongue a touch too long in the finish. It is a little too sweet, I suspect the finishing gravity is over 1.016. Nice spicy hop flavor finish from the saaz/tettnang. Clean, back of the tongue bitterness from the Magnum. An enjoyable beer.
