| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 26, 2005 Bottled. Pours a clear golden, with a shortlived white head. Aroma is sweet malty, with some flowery/fruityness. Taste is sweet fruity, slightly bitter, and a litle buttery kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 24, 2005 12 oz bottle. Poured a copper color with a small rather thin head. Tons of carbonation in this one, I liken the fizziness and amount of bubbles to what you would expect from a glass of ginger ale. Aroma is light, some butterscotch maltiness and floral hops but nothing that grabs my attention. body is rather fizzy and dances on the tongue, very thin and watery. Flavor wise, there is more malt than anything, followed by alcohol, then a slight bitterness. Not really sure how this one qualifies as an IPA, the hops just aren’t there. I’d take it down a notch and call it just a pale ale. Nothing special about this one, and not as good as I was expecting given how good some of Geary’s other stuff is. Don’t go out of your way for this one. Panzuriel (993), Westerville, Ohio, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 24, 2005 A apple cider colored liquid with a fine white head. Nose is sharp and bitter hops. Taste is tangy and good bitter finishing to a nice bitter hop end. Light and crisp mouthfeel. darkerdabetter (255), Michigan, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2005 Not bad, bot not much else either. Rather plain, thin, and somewhat bitter in the aftertaste. Did have some hints of spice, but fell short overall. Lizabeth (360), east falmouth, Massachusetts, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 3, 2005 Bottle. Clear bright gold with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malt, honey, light floral hops and a hint of grapefruit. Flavor is weak apricot, stale Italian bread and the barest hint of nutmeg. The mouthfeel is smooth and the carbonation is light to nonexistent. Winter beer? Well maybe for those who like their Winter beers weak and nearly flavorless. IPA? I don’t think so ruggedman (619), Portland, Maine, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2005 My least favorite offering from Geary’s but that just goes to show how good the rest of their stuff is. Orange color with a small light head. Malty flavor, not enough hops for teh style (IPA) this is listed as, however I tend to think a winter should have a slight hop taste if any. lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 9, 2005 Pours a bright golden orange with a very small head. Smells of sweet malt with hoppy aromas but all aromas are very light.
Taste is spicy with syrupy malty flavors. Somewhat hoppy but not nearly as bold as I was expecting. Not much finish, just kind of fizzles out. Mouthfeel is sticky with very little aftertaste.
Not enough malt for a winter and certainly not enough hops or spice to make up for it. It’s smooth and drinkable but that’s about it. This is the replacement for Geary’s HSA?
