| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 28, 2006 This ale is clear and sparking with a respectable head and lace. Spice is abundant on the nose. The woodsy English hop spice is what I mean. The palate is clean for a ringwood beer. The finish is bitter and herbal. I liked it way back when Hampshire Special Ale was only available when the weather sucked. This IPA is too thin for a Winter Ale, especially one from Portland, ME. zach8270 (2135), Henrietta, New York, USA

Aroma is fruity and hoppy with a light floral touch at the end. Flavor is a bit dry with a decent hop and malt blend and a dry and floral finish with a touch of grass. Not a bad IPA just a little weird for a winter ale. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 25, 2006 From a twist cap stubby 12 oz. bottle with no freshness date.
Poured a hazy orangey copper with foamy white head, minimal amount of sticking.
Aromas of fruity esters, floral hops and whiffs of alcohol with the sweet malts at the edges.
Good carbonation and crisp, smooth light bodied mouthfeel.
Tastes of spicy, a tad earthy, citrusy hops, a sharp bitterness at first then a rolling softness, buttery, a subtle green grape fruitiness, a balancing sweet malts at the back end, a slight alcohol warming in the palate and a hoppy, fruity finish.
A very quaffable IPA from Geary’s, easy drinkability, well worth trying.
Acquired in a trade with northyorksammy, thanks!

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 20, 2006 Amber body with thin off-white head. Smells malty and fruity (apricot?). Tastes like apricot, with some malt and floral notes. Medium in body. Rather tasty and enjoyable, but doesn’t tast much like an IPA. Reminds me in some ways to DFH Aprihop or Magic Hat #9... I like it. Norton (296), The Fan, Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Apr 26, 2006 Updated: Jul 14, 2006Bottle. Cloudy deep auburn color with a sticky light beige head which manages to cling for entire duration. Flowery aroma. Again I detect a metallic/chemically assault on my taste buds, but not as bad as in their porter. Aside from the not-so-fresh metal undertones, can definitely sense an almost creamy hops presence - definitely caramel in nature as others have indicated here. Carbonation high & slightly distracting. Filling. All-around a "C-minus" seasonal.
