Commercial Description:
Abbey Blonde We have endeavored to produce an Abbey Blonde ale in the Belgian tradition. Brewed with imported malt, hops, and cane sugar, our Belgian yeast blend produced a spicy, floral, perfumy beer with a dry finish. Pepper, rosehips, and sage come to mind. 6.7% ABV, 25 IBU

Bottle courtesy of JB175. Pours copper with a thin rocky white head. Smells of citrus, spice, tea, pepper. Tastes of pepper, dry pilsner malt, tea, some earthy hints.

Clear gold with a thin white head. Banana nose with lots of ginger, clove, sage, an rosemary. Clean, spicy, herbal taste with pepper, cloves, toasted malts, and generous lighter fruits. Very full mouthfeel. I think this one is a decicious brew!

In short: An herbal and floral session Belgian blonde ale. Highly drinkable.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Partly cloudy blonde body topped by a white ring of foam
In long: Nose is slightly spicy which is sometimes I often get as a yeast side-effect in Belgian blonde ale. Taste has lots of “country stuff”, not wild/barnyard country, more like rustic country stuff. Countryside hay, countryside flowers, countryside herbs, dry bread, lemongrass, sage, alfalfa sprouts. Very floral and herbal. Spicy/minerals sensation with white pepper and salt. Mouth drying herbal finish. Hugely drinkable, a Belgian ale that could easily be a daily session beer. Another solid beer from General Lafayette, these guys don’t make junk beer, this is General Lafayette not Colonel Sanders.

I think this is getting a bum rap and if it had Lost Abbey on the label it would have scored much higher than most raters gave it. Deep rich golden pour, small head ... looks like a Belgian blond. Nose of citrus and malts and a touch of floral aromatic hops ... just fine. Good palate. Taste of citrus and floral hops and candi sugar and yeast and bread ... well done for a blond and an extra point for a Belgian at almost session beer strength.

Tap at GLI and bottle - Hazy gold color with a moderate head. Aroma has a quality Belgian yeast/malt essence with a good amount of citrus, spice, and subtle hops. Taste dominated by ctirus, spice, banana, and a light yeast. Pleasant feel and a solid finish. Glad they’re bottling this one!

Growler, via Ty5592. Pours a slightly hazy orangish gold body with a one finger foamy off-white head that faded to a patchy film. Some light lacing. The nose is fruity and very Belgian, notes of banana, white pepper, light vanilla, and heavy pale malt. The flavor starts off with alot of doughy pale malt, but the finish has lots of yeast influence making it fruity and floral tasting. Slightly sweet up front, but it dries out on the back end. A little bit of alcohol showing on the finish as well. Mouthfeel is fairly soft and creamy with nice gentle carbonation, some doughy clinginess on the finish. Overall, this was pretty drinkable, but the moderate alcohol content made it not quite as sessionable as I would have liked.

Draft~ Lafayette Inn, Lafayette, PA- Poured a really hazy yellowish straw color. Scents and tastes of some floral notes, nice malt’s, hops, odd sugary taste. Its good for what I would call an Belgian brewed ale, but I don’t think it compares to real Belgian Ales.
