| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 25, 2007 Looks murky brown in normal light but a clear dark rust up to light, creamy to frothy lastingtan head with fair lacing, has the usual General Lafayette hop taste which I feel reacts with from the water they use, watery to oily texture, dried fruit tangs apricot/raison/prune, average bitter finish-yeast stay with you. This is an average Dubbel, but if you take it out of that class and reframe as some guys who brew in suburban Philadelphia, it is pretty damn good. Dickinsonbeer (3496), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 8, 2006 This was a pretty good dubbel overall. Pours a deep dark ruby amber with a nice off white head and leaves nice lace. Aroma is moslty fruity esters but not overpowering, raisin and plum, dark crystal malts and lightly yeasty. Thick cdark crystal malts- special B- lots of fruity dark candied fruits and raisin- thick sweet caramel and light fruity yeast. Very smooth overall, and not too overcarbed or dry in the end which many dubbles tend to have (which I dont like too much). I really liked this. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 2, 2006 Appears a dark, chestnut color with a small off white head that fades into a small collar. Upon swirling the pint, streaks of lacing stick to the sides. Tiny carbonation bubbles seek their way up to the top.
Aromas of one of the Trappist strains. I’m thinking Chimay. Nice plum, yeasty, fruity, cherry with a hint of cocoa and bananas.
Taste is equal to the aromas with a nice balance that’s done with a dose of candi sugar. Nothing is overbearing in this beer. It’s subtle and well done.
Mouthfeel is slightly prickly at first but smooth on the swallow with a nice fruity, yeast filled banana blast kissing you goodbye as it goes down. What a nice sensation with this brew.

The flavor is quite yeasty with some grapes and plums present. I also taste a bit of cherries. The aftertaste is slightly sweet. Pretty good but not that great for the style.
