| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 20, 2004 Poured a hazy maroon color with a small tan head that left nice lacing. Aroma of yeast, dark fruits, and some raspberry. Yeast was strong in the taste, also followed by malt, bitter grapes, melon, plums, some spice and candy sugar. A nice dubbel. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 19, 2008 Draft: Poured a dark brown amber with not a lot of head. The aroma was malty and fruity with scents of banana bread and fruit. The flavor was smooth with a warm feeling from the malt and the sweetness on the tongue. Overall, one of the best dubbels I’ve had so far. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 8, 2005 Hazy ruby with aromas of fruit, cabernet, bready malt, hops, melon, cherries, berries. Tastes of caramel malt, Brett, candi sugar, figs, berries, and cherries. Complex aroma and taste, and another winner from GLI. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 2, 2006 Appears a dark, chestnut color with a small off white head that fades into a small collar. Upon swirling the pint, streaks of lacing stick to the sides. Tiny carbonation bubbles seek their way up to the top.
Aromas of one of the Trappist strains. I’m thinking Chimay. Nice plum, yeasty, fruity, cherry with a hint of cocoa and bananas.
Taste is equal to the aromas with a nice balance that’s done with a dose of candi sugar. Nothing is overbearing in this beer. It’s subtle and well done.
Mouthfeel is slightly prickly at first but smooth on the swallow with a nice fruity, yeast filled banana blast kissing you goodbye as it goes down. What a nice sensation with this brew.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 13, 2007 Murky dark brown color with tight, creamy head. Smells of plums and other dark fruits. The taste was rich with dark fruits and nice roasted malts. Smooth and easy drinkin’. Very nice dubbel. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Sweet aroma of dark fruits - raisin, plum, cherry + some quality malty bread and candy. Taste was very good with a full-bodied, malty presentation of sweet bread, cherries, and other dessert-like qualities. I am not a big dubbel fan, but this one holds its own against high-quality Quads and the like. Well done. hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

pours hazy and a shade of cherry stained wood with a small tannish head.
very perplexing floral aroma.... consists of tart fruit/cherries, red grape juice (not drink), a bit of smoky wood, bubblegum, malt sweetness and some vanilla.
the flavor is a baffling one... it is very warmly spiced with a defined mineraly brett character and almost parching dryness. yet, it is very malty with notes of tart cherries, caramel, savory yeast, vanilla, flowers and faint cocoa. tartness is amplified on the finish when the dryness takes over to clean off the palate.
it is medium bodied though light compared to the style and terribly easy drinking considering the abv%. i don’t know about these beers being smarter than i.... 8/4/8/4/17/4.1 Dickinsonbeer (3494), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 8, 2006 This was a pretty good dubbel overall. Pours a deep dark ruby amber with a nice off white head and leaves nice lace. Aroma is moslty fruity esters but not overpowering, raisin and plum, dark crystal malts and lightly yeasty. Thick cdark crystal malts- special B- lots of fruity dark candied fruits and raisin- thick sweet caramel and light fruity yeast. Very smooth overall, and not too overcarbed or dry in the end which many dubbles tend to have (which I dont like too much). I really liked this.
