Firemoose15 (540), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 5, 2009 Bottle. Aroma was burnt malt, a light coccoa. Poured a almost black and decent sized head. Flavor was roast malt, coccoa and a wierd sour malt taste. Palate is medium bodied finishes pretty clean. Overall good but strange. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Nov 3, 2009 From dmac via trade. The pour was dark brown and clear. A one-finger tall light tan head appeared. Minimal lacing. The aroma was roasted, almost burnt malts and coffee. A bit of chocolate. The flavor was roasted malts, old coffee, light chocolate and a bit of sour fruit towards the finish. Light body, dry mouthfeel. Slightly above average. Pastor (509), Maine, USA Oct 26, 2009 Thanks to FooFaa for this extra. 12 oz bottle poured into a tulip produced two fingers worth of coco colored head that just stays around. The body is a midnight black. The aroma of the brew is strong roasted malts, big dark chocolate and espresso notes as well.
Flavor is very similar to the nose. The flavors of espresso and dark chocolate come thru very bitter not to much sweetness in this brew at all. It has a medium feel in my mouth with good carbonation almost too much for the style.
A good porter easy to drink on this rainy Sunday

fata2683 (837), Panama City, Florida, USA Oct 24, 2009 bottle, pours black with a tall brown head. Roasty cocoa nib nose. Sour roasted maltand milk chocolate flavors. Not bad, but I think the heavy carbonation hurts a little. Arayaga2 (933), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 12, 2009 Opaque black with a tall, dense brown head. Roasty, chocolatey aroma with a slight sour edge. Taste is the same, with a hint of vanilla in the finish. CanIHave4Beers (835), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Oct 12, 2009 Pours a black color with a dark small head. The aroma is smoky with olives and dark fruit with some chocolate in there as well. The flavor is smoky coffee dark chocolate and a nice bitterness with some pronounced alcohol notes, complex and delicious! Jsawyer (282), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 12, 2009 Sampled cask conditioned and draught. Draught produced a big chocolatey head atop a lustrous obsidian colored body while the cask version had slightly less head. Aroma was strongly chocolatey, cocoa, malty, cafe au lait, and an underly sweetness reminiscent of raspberries. The flavor was roast barley, milk chocolate, medium roast coffee, and again a berry like sweetness verging on cherries or raspberries. The continuous head produced a palate that was initially creamy but not overly viscous underneath. Interestingly the cask version was very reminiscent of a yoo-hoo. Nice combo there and a great porter overall. Avengedpoet (325), Mesa, Arizona, USA Oct 9, 2009 Thanks to rustychiles for the share on this one. Aroma is an explosive amount of chocolate, cocoa powder, and barley malt. Taste is thinner than expected, but by no means a slouch. Very well balanced, but still a little lacking in the mouthfeel. Good all-around beer.
