Jul 31, 2008 Handbottled by Santa! Dark Color. Smell of bakers chocolate, coffee, caramel/toffee, roasted malt and candy. Taste of bitter chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel, sugar daddys and dark fruit. Sweet and bitter. A little bit too sweet for me. Thanks Santa!

Jul 21, 2008 Draft at brewpub. Poured a dark brown almost black with a medium sized creamy tan head. Aroma of sweet chocolate and roasted coffee. Tastes of rich chocolate, and roasted coffee, cream, vanilla. Smooth and very drinkable brew. Very nice.

Jun 8, 2008 on tap-pours a light brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty/chocolate, faint hops bite. Taste is dark malt-roasty/chocolate/anise, cherry, then some coffee in the after taste.

Apr 8, 2008 Draft. Poured a nice deep black body with thin head. Aroma is chocolate, rich malt and coffee. Flavor is rich chocolate, roasted coffee. Very drinkable.

Mar 23, 2008 This beer has a full dark chocolate flavor with hints of dark roasted coffee. It could have benefited from additional malt to offset the bitterness. The aroma was of alcohol and chocolate. It features an opaque black color with caramel hued head. Lacks nuance but if dark chocolate is your passion, then this beer could be very pleasurable.

Mar 17, 2008 growler provided by ty5592 and the growler swap 1.0... root beer colored dark brown with a thin tan head that has a purple tint to it. the aroma is ashy with lots of 70% bitter cocoa, vanilla bean scalded cream and some dark dried fruit. dark malt, wood and coffee dominate the palate. they’re followed by a light sourness. full bodied with a creamy texture that is cut nicely by the bitter/sour/ashy/astringency of the malts...

Pours a very dark cola-brown color; textured, medium tan head with solid retention and web-like lacing with medium bubbles; excellent head texture; even for a handbottle, a beautiful pour. Lots of oily chocolate, nougat, and creamy vanilla in the aroma; smells like oily, very creamy milk chocolate. Very relaxed carbonation. Medium-to-full, creamy mouthfeel: roasted malts, ridiculously creamy and dense milk chocolate, nougat, vanilla; a nice citrus and mineral bitterness coming through as well; softly roasted, viscous, chocolate-full porter. Very creamy and generous. Lengthy finish, showing bitter chocolate, tons of breadiness, and roasted malts in the finish; a touch of bitterness.
