@ brewpub. Poured a dark mahogany/black body with a foamy tan head. The aroma was sweet milk chocolate, cherries, and light coffee and cream. Flavors were hershey bars with coffee and cream. Some berries and sweet smoke in the finish. Very thick and oily mouthfeel. I Love This Beer!

Draft at the Manayunk Brew Extravaganza in Philly. Wonderful beer. Nice sweet dark chocolate flavor. Wasn’t very heavy either.

Draft: Rich chestnut. Creamy light mocha foam edge. Dried plum, black licorice, and tangy fudge aroma balanced with charred sugars and leafy hops. Whispers of charcoal, coffe, and fudge-coated cherries. Trace oxidation, to boot. Thick and viscous on the tongue with light pricks of carbonation. Tasty medley of dried plums, molasses, and vanilla. Scratchy earthy hop underlay cuts through the sweetness with light notes of caramel. Finishes thickly malted alongside rich molasses, tangy fudge, and dark grape skins. Hops, ink, and leather linger beyond the finish. This is thicker than 90% of the Imperial Stouts out there, but needs a tad more creaminess to bring the flavors together. Lovely brew.

Vintage 2003, sampled July 2006. A pitch black beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma contains lots of chocolate, madeira, and over ripe fruits, as well as light notes of oxidation and licorice. The flavor is sweet with a strong malt presence and notes of over ripe fruits alcohol, madeira, raisins, and chocolate as well as a light oxidation.

Very dark and rich brew. Had small tan head leaving good lacing. Aroma is of choclate and malt. Full-bodied with a creamy, velvety mouthfeel. Flavors of malt, coffee, and chocolate. Alcohol detectable but well hidden for 9%. Pretty frickin good if you ask me. Ashame it isn’t available year round.

Poured a dark brown and red color with a tan head which left nice lacing. Roasted malt, chocolate, light coffee and some dark fruit in the aroma. Chocolate, smoke, anise and alcohol in the taste. This had a rather oily mouthfeel.

Had this at the Manayunk fest and it got lost in my notes. Poured deep black/mahogany with a big tan head. Nice coffee/chocolate aroma, with a roasty malt flavor followed up by coffee, more chocolate, and a slightly dry, creamy, smooth finish. Very good.

Thanks to axilla for sharing. I had no idea this beer existed. Extremely dark black body with a medium dark brown head but I was drinking this in the twilight so of course it looked black as death. Moderately boozy rich dark chocolate, chocolate syrup and moderately strong roast, the mouthfeel is a bit syrupy, but in a really nice smooth way, while the alcohol (tasted like bourbon!) was a little high or too apparent but didn’t take anything away. In fact it hit the spot. Complex, rich chocolate and charred fruit flavors, even some dark roast coffee in there as well. An awesome Baltic Porter, and one I was happy I got a chance to try.
