Bottled, vintage 2005, sampled July 2006, labelled Grim Reaper. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of chocolate and wood as well a light notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of over ripe fruits, leaing to a dry woody end. Good aging.

[Shutout Stout at GABF 2004] A pitch black beer with a disappearing orange head. The aroma is sweet roasted malty. While the flavor is sweet roasted and with a dry hoppy end. [7/4/7/3/15=3.6]

Black body with tan head. Aroma is rich, sweet, chocolate, roasty coffee. Taste is rich, sweet, chocolate, roasty (especially in finish), coffee, light vinous. Alcohol noticeable but not dominant. Full body.

On tap. Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized brown head. Aroma of chocolates, light coffee and some roastiness. Light bitter aftertaste. One of the better beers I had there today.

Vintage unknown. Sampled from a growler. Carbonation is soft, flavors are subtle milk chocolate, charred fruit and it has a bit of creamy mocha in the finish, but again, the flavors are pretty subtle and faint. A little pasty on the palate, alcohol easily noticed, with some vodka/potato flavors as well... which is stranga. Nice is very light and faint, with milk chocolate and cocoa scents. Looks good, though, with a brown mocha head.

Draft. Black with dark tan head and great lacing. Aroma of big roasted malt, chocoff, and some prunes and licorice. Tastes the same, with a smooth, dense palate that one would expect from a top notch Impy. This one is awesome!

Sample at the Philadelphia gathering, July 10. Nice aroma, sweet chocolate, grapes and just a hint of bitter espresso. Grapy-vinous flavors throughout; a bit thin at first for an Imperial, but seems to thicken nicely as it warms...very chocolaty, relatively simple, but does the job, as they say.

a.k.a "Grim Reaper" with 8.1% alcohol. Best of show to this point. Sour up front, chocolate malt, very roasty dry. Slightly acidic finish. Medium-full mouthfeel. Black with small mocha head and lace. quite drinkable.

Draft... Opaque black, tan head, and some lacing. Roasty sweet, and dark fruits in the aroma. Lightly bitter, dark roasted malts, and chocolate. Alcohol backbone. Cask... Poured opaque black with a light tan head. Beautiful cascase of tan head and nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of brandy, dark fruits, roasted chocolate, pepper, and hops. Taste was full of chocolate and coffee, some tobacco, and just the slightest bit of alcohol. Very creamy mouthfeel, very nice. Lowered a bit due to last nights sample being thin and not as tasty.
