| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 16, 2004 Can. Sour, grassy aroma. Very mild and not particularly appealing. Transparent copper color with a small quickly dissipating white head. Start is nice and malty. Slightly caramelly and roasty. Finish is kind of off and has some DMS. Slightly thin and watery, but exceeds my expectations from this brewery. This is actually quite drinkable. zach8270 (2129), Henrietta, New York, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 26, 2005 Updated: Dec 14, 2008[can - 12 oz] Slightly dark golden pour with a thick and fizzy white head. Almost red. Bitter aroma of vegetables, hops and some malt. The taste is pretty much your standard beer. Begins with a slightly dry and malty taste and then goes to crisp and slightly dry finish. Not a terrible beer at all. beerbill (1973), Laurel, New York, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jul 13, 2004 Pours reddish amber color with a rather long lasting off-white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is malts and corn syrup with a little bit of floral hoppiness. Flavor is quite sweet, slightly metallic, with a mild hop bite and a lingering weird malty-peppery finish. Medium body (pretty full bodied for a lager) with tingly carbonation. JFGrind (1354), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Sep 1, 2004 I brought a thirty pack ($13 USD) of Genesee Red Lager to this year’s Philadelphia Folk Festival. Drank it off and on while camping out over the course of a four day weekend ice cold out of the can. Detected a slight aroma, corn, chemically roasted malts and more of a bitter than sweet finish. Reminded me of a cheap version of Yuengling Lager. Last night while "de-festing" I had one more Genny Red out of a pint glass. Nice reddish color but a lame head with some large carbonated bubbles. Genesee Red lager is better than average cheap beer, and a good value. If you are in need of a beer for mass consumption and will be giving half of your thirty pack away to others this could be the beer for you.
