Not much retention or lacing. Aroma is spicey hops and some caramel. Taste is salty and watery with something that tastes a bit like soap. Watery mouthfeel. esjaygee (1531), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 20, 2008 A long time ago I remember this as one of the first non-macro beers I ever tasted. I knew right then and there that I needed something more out of my beer than what the large macros provided. Many years later, I’ve learned I need a lot more out of my *cough* micros. Amber colored with off-white head. Very light nose of caramel. Taste is weak and watery, mild caramel in there. Dry finish livens up the blandness of this lager. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 14, 2008 This one was definitely a gateway beer for me...right between Shiner Bock and New Belgium Sunshine Wheat. It pours a clear copper with a thin, fizzy head that quickly diminishes to a skin of off-white bubbles forming a ring around the edge of the glass. The nose is of solid, sweet caramel and just a touch of an adjunct "off" note, but overall, it’s decent for the style. Light-bodied without being thin. Fine, tongue tickling carbonation transitions to a mildly astringent and lightly dry finish; a tad odd for such a sweet beer. The flavor follows the nose, degrading a touch as you work your way through the glass. While I drank a lot of this stuff "back in the day", I think it will now be relegated to those rare occasions when it’s the "best" beer on the menu at a burger joint. ~ Smells like a musty lager. Some caramel. Smells dusty.
~ Taste is decent. Beer cereal present, but not as overpowering as most cheap macro brews.
~ Medium body dry finish.
~ Its a drinkable beer. Nothing worth mentioning. Decent. thenumber1g (68), Cary, North Carolina, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Apr 13, 2008 Pours a red amber with a thin tan head that seems to last. Aroma is of caramel and malts. Tastes different then expected, not a beer to rave about at all! changeup45 (792), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 11, 2008 Pours a dark amber color with a fizzy head that tapers off. Not a whole lot of lacing ends up on the glass. Slightly malty and sweet but somewhat watery and leaving a thin mouthfeel. It’s alright, and it’s certainly reasonably priced. I would put this in the same class as Michelob Amber Bock and Yuengling and I’d prefer the other two over this one. blutt59 (2143), Dallas, Texas, USA
