One of the first darker beers I ever tried years and years ago. This is considered an expensive "college" beer. Pretty watery for a so called dark. Don’t light the dark color fool you, this is definetly a lager. Driftwood6 (214), USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 13, 2007 Looks can be deceiving. Decent deep red color. But no great flavor-- not even sure how to describe what’s missing. Just maybe has an overall watered-down flavor. Avoid unless nothing better is available. Although at that point I’d probably just have water-- it tastes similar and is much cheaper. calvinist (32), Asheville, North Carolina, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | May 12, 2007 I love the color but the beer is really not that special. It looks alot more flavorful than it really is. It smells a little grassy/straw or hay. It really doesn’t have much of a flavor at all. The only flavor is just at the very end of the finish after you swallow and that is also very short lived. Looks Great! Tastes Not So Great! cking (1023), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 10, 2007 Rated 12/13/05: It’s always nice to see the big breweries market "special" beers under other names. At first I thought this beer isn’t too bad, of course that was seven years ago I was in college and my usual assortment consisted of Busch or maybe Budweiser if I had some more change lying around. Overall it is not a bad beer, it really lacks in the flavor department especially if it is served real cold. This one is not too high on my list but there are worse beers out there. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 9, 2007 I remember this being better when I was a strictly BMC drinker...now not so. On tap at Joes Crab Shack Myrtle Beach. Weak aroma of grassy hops. Pour was a light brown with a thin ring head. Taste was carbonated water with some malt in the background and metal throughout. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 6, 2007 355 mL bottle. Red/copper brown. Mild, slightly malty aroma with medium, but quickly dissipating head. I expected a Rickard’s Red clone. (It is made by the same conglomerate.) But it’s actually better than Rickards. Taste is a little fuller; dominated by sweet(ish) malt, but almost balanced by hop bitterness. Not so heavily carbonated, either. I may be making this sound better than it really is, but really, it’s not bad. I’d like to try it on tap. Hangover (768), Atlanta, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 6, 2007 Red-copper pour with a thin and short-lasting white head. Nicely carbonated, sweet and malty. Slight caramel towards the finish. OK beer on the cheap. JFURYCAT (791), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 6, 2007 The aroma could be more potent but it has a decent sweetness in the flavor with a focus on malts. I used to hate this beer in college but now I recognize it for what it is: a mellow amber with some darkness which has a slight grainy tinge to it. A flavor injection would be nice but I think of this one as a possible gateway beer for the coors light crowd.
