phishpond417 (1110), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 12, 2008 When I saw this elegant looking bottle at a beer fest recently I was immediately drawn in. Once I saw it was from Miller, I thought, well this must be something good judging by the label.
::first red flag::
Taking a slow motion sip after thoroughly cleansing my palate I at first taste a very familiar taste. I am instantly brought back 3 years but the flashback is very hazey, im not sure where I am yet.
::second red flag::
I continue on and then the taste, aroma and everything about the beer slowly begins to spark something in my (by this time very beer saturated) brain.
::third and final red flag::
I realize that I am tasting something incredibly and quite frankly not suprisingly similar to a Miller Genuine Draft or of equal standards. It is grainy, it is malted and watery beyond description. A lowpoint of the day that lasts a mere minute, but definately the longest minute of my life in 2007. :) kmeves (980), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Oct 1, 2007 Pour is golden and full of carbonation, smallish head. Aroma is grainy, a bit citric and bicuity. Flavor is mildly bitter (I’m guessing Saaz) which is balanced nicely with some bready malt. Palate is very clean, very drinkable lager. Kind of reminded me of Heilemens Old Style before the buyout. JK (2355), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Sep 11, 2007 Shared by Skyview, who somehow convinced Miller to fill a growler of this. Thanks Bob.
This is really good for the kind of beer this is. Very grainy, some corn and lots of barley (even though there is no corn in it). Interesting color, sort of a medium gold and a substantial white head. Well carbonated. The aroma and flavor also have considerable malt and hops. Salty. Full palate. A pale lager can’t get much better without turning in to a pilsner. OSLO (590), Minnesota, USA Sep 10, 2007 [Growler, big thanks go to Skyview for somehow managing to acquire this beer!] Pours golden with a nice lingering white head. Aroma is grainy. Taste is very malty with some hops towards the end. Long finish with a taste that I can’t quite pinpoint but that is very pleasant--excellent. Good mouthfeel. Very smooth. I’m not usually a big lager fan, but this was a well done beer that, despite a few weaknesses, was extremely drinkable. BDR (1850), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Sep 10, 2007 Many thanks to Skyview for procuring a bottle of this gem for us. Gold colored body with a lightly citrus hopped biscuit nose. Similar taste, but very smooth. Couldn’t help but recall the Das Bierhaus pils - which is a very good comparison. A solid beer.
