The Lion brewery is not bad, and this one is fairly priced. I’ll probably lawnmower this one next spring. Radek Kliber (3950), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

Aroma was not that bad, sweet but not in the annoying way. Not much from there, some cheap malt... DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Jan 5, 2004 My brother's old frat brother brought this up with him from WB as a joke. This is a 16 oz bottle. Pours a light straw color thats transparent with a 1.5cm fizzy white head. Nose is kind of fruity with maybe a hint of yeast in there as well. Start is light and watery, which persists throughout. The only notable taste is a metallic taste in the finish. "Pocono Mountain Water Makes a Difference" is what reads on the label. I am guessing that they used a little too much. I also find it very ironic that this "Famous Lager" has only been rated by 3 others before me. cheapdark (2017), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA

Of course its pale yellow and it has the typical cheap lager aroma, but in a good way. Taste is not bad, some hints of hay and the like. Decent carbonation. Refreshing lager with not many ill effects. Nice rather friendly finish without any bitterness per se but there is a slight hint of industrialness in there. beerbill (1954), Laurel, New York, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Mar 3, 2006 I remember drinking this stuff years ago when I visited my friend in college in Albany. We bought Gibbons and some Red, White & Blue. As I recall, RWB was pretty bad, I’ll have to check and see if it is still around. The Gibbons wasn’t all that bad. As I recall it was a typical low-end lager, golden color, with the obligatory malt and corn cereal flavor. I see from some of the other reviews that it is back in the Wilkes-Barre area. I’ll see about picking some up on my next trip to PA and recall those old days. JFGrind (1352), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA

It’s been brewed for years but only available in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area for about the past fifteen years and only in sixteen ounce returnables. My Dad hasn’t drank Gibbons since the mid-80’s when my older brother brought a case (of cans) back from the Poconos. On my trip to Cooperstown, NY for Ommegang’s July 2005 fest I stopped in Schiff’s Beverage Center, Dickson City, PA and bought a case of Gibbons for $14.57 (including deposit) for my Dad. I was number one son the day I dropped the case off for my Dad. Gibbons itself is a coal cracker classic, corny aroma, yellow colored with some barnacle bubbles clinging to the side of the glass. Flavor is corny, creamy malt bubble gum macro beer. A great value for the price, and one of my eighty-seven year old Dad’s lifetime favorite beers. . ChazyRPh (571), Chazy, New York, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 8, 2004 Pours a clear golden color with minimal to no head. A true favorite of Club Warren in Albany, NY. We could buy this stuff by the case for $8.00 for the 16oz. bombers. "A quality brew at an economical price". I thought they stopped brewing this stuff, but my old college roommate, who lives just outside of Wilkes-Barre, PA (where this nectar was brewed), managed to find a case hidden in the back room of some beer distributer. Well aged to say the least. Malty nose with some hints of yeast. Light, smooth and easy to drink throughout, which is what made it such a favorite among the club members. Not much taste, some malt and very mild hops. I am kind of partial to the Gibbons myself, because as the bottle reads..."Gibbons is Good"
