One of the many, "Drewbeerme is back and is a badass for sharing so many awesome Belgium beers" tasting with Holdenn and me. Bottle. Hazy dark orange-brown, with off-white/beige head. Sour aroma, lemon, dusty/earthy. Green/red apple flavor, slight lemon, not very acidic, orange (that tastes like its about to go bad), sweet, dry winey, earthy. Thin, watery not unappropiate, no carb. Not too exciting but not bad none the less.

375ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki, Lambic days 2007) Pumpkin orange, light loose head. Slightly sour, slightly sweet but very malty aroma. Slightly buttery slightly woody malt taste. Very dry but very drinkable.

hazy dark amber, wispy beige head, aroma is both sweet and tart with a musty character, lots of tart flavor that kicks your salvatory glands into high gear, nice fruity character in the middle, the tartness comes back for a long tart finish

Bottle: Poured a light reddish/brown color lambic with a big foamy off-white head with limited retention. Aroma is quite funky with limited tartness and acidity which was a bit disappointing. Taste was similar to the gueuze but as if the tartness and acidity had been removed and replace with light sugary notes. Body was a bit too light with some good carbonation. I find it always interesting too try those traditional examples but this one really miss the mark. Re-rate January 2008: Poured a light reddish color faro with a sizeable foamy head with good retention. Aroma of candi sugar with some light green apple and some melon. Taste is a lot more enjoyable then when I had previously tasted this beer. Probably one of the best Faro I’ve had the chance to try recently.

0.375 l bottle. Dark amber color with peige head. Sweet and sour aroma with weird piney and resiny notes reminescent of tequila. More sweet than acidic flavor with some sugary notes. Also vinous and resiny notes in the flavor. Fairly straightforward but pleasant. At Pikkulintu in Helsinki there was a blond and totally different tasting version of this beer!

Bottle from Boutip consumed last night. Thanks Phil! My first faro experience. After letting it warm for 35 mins or so, I popped this baby and poured it into my 3Fonteinen tumbler. Lots of carbonation, I dont know why but I was surprised by this. Nose was sort of like what I expected, a mix of sweet and sour, heavy on the malts with some notes of apple cider vinegar and olives. Pour was rich dark amber brown with a fizzy white head that leaves a small ring of beige lacing. Flavor is rich and the body is thick--much thicker than any lambic I’v ever had. Might even call it bready. More green (sour) apples, brown sugar, vinegar, and wood. This had a funky balance, normally when I look at the flavors I have listed this sounds like a beer I would love, but the consistency was just kind of fluttered and everything didnt meld as well as I would have liked. This was pretty good and I actually enjoyed some of the flavors at times, but when I got to the last few sips I just couldn’t bring myself to finish it. Nonetheless, I can’t wait to try some more.
