Commercial Description:
Unfiltered.

Bottle from K&L in Redwood City. Pours a slightly hazy brilliant golden color with a large white head and good lacing. Aroma is what you’d want from a great gueuze: citrus/lemon tartness and funk, maybe a touch of sweet malt as well. Flavor is funky tartness and lemon with some sweet pale malt poking through. Extremely well-balanced and good. Palate is sharp and acidic with soft carbonation and medium body. Very drinkable, not at all overly sour. This may be the best gueuze I’ve ever had.

(Rating #2697)

Beer nr 100! Bottle, 37,5 cl. A beautiful, clear, light golden beer with bubbles rising beautifully and a medium creamy lacing white head that lasts till the end. The aroma is sour with some fruity notes, smelling very good in the nose. The taste is a good, complex mix of nice sourness, with some fruitiness, a little hop and a light sweet touch in the end. Dry aftertaste, very refreshing and very good gueuze, one of the best certainly! The perfect beer to be nr 100 to be rated.

Bottle. Hazy orange with a white head. The aroma was really special, hard to describe. A little yeast was there, and some citrus, but also like a well-used horse blanket? Vinegar perhaps? A very peculiar smell. The flavor contained a lot of green apples, citrus and a certain sweetness. The solvent was pretty dry. Sourness was great, a lot of carbonation. I like this one!

Bottle 0,375L (from Huis van de Geuze) Pours slightly hazy, golden with a relatively large and lasting, also lacing, white head. Very dry, complex and rather delicious aroma of sour apples, citric fruits, pretty strong bretty notes of barnyard& wood and some peachy sweetness. Starts with a feeling of carbons and citrus. Continues with a fruit sweetness (peach) and apple. Lovely sourness starts to grasp the palate and flavor. More citrus, funk, raw apples and leather. Very nice palate is well-carbonated and lively ending up sticky, acidic bone-dry. Marvelous beer!

Source:375 mL bottle purchased at Green’s in Atlanta.
Glass:Lindemans Lambic glass.
Appearance:Hazy gold pour with a two finger, bubbly white head.
Aroma:Sour apples and grapes with oak and funk.
Flavor:Tart green apple, lemon and limes. Sweet and earthy funk finish.
Palate:Light body with bubbly carbonation.
Overall:Not sure how this is a top 100 beer, as I have been more impressed with some of the other gueuze out there. Still a good beer.

(Bottle at Ørsted Ølbar on 2009-09-17) Golden and lightly hazy. Small white head. Sourness, wood, fruitiness and lightly sweetness in aroma. Dry, medium bodied palate with medium carbonation. Wood, sourness, malts, fruitiness, lightly vomit, bitterness and some citrcness in taste. Sour aftertaste. A really great gueuze.
