Mes_and_Sim (4495), Highgate, Greater London, England Sep 5, 2005 Updated: Jan 22, 2008 A Mes rate: First off I was stunned I have not rated this as it is a regular for me. This particular one was tasted at the fantastic Bison bar in Brussels. My god this is how it should be done. I can imagine it being brewed in a dusty old barn by an aged boffin with equipment that has stood the test of time and is held together with patches and cobwebs then ferried around in barrels pulled by a faithful old horse. It is simply amazing stuff. Full of funk and farmyard charateristics with lemon peel and other citric notes. Wonderful hazy golden body with a great head that lasts as long as your glass still contains liquid and some attractive chunky lace. Smoother than a lot of other lambics. Plenty of tart and sourness about it though. Sweet to begin with then waves of delicious tart and sour stuff come through with sandlewood, oak and leather later. Wonderful dry finish that leaves you craving for more. Mouthfeel is just about unsurpassed by anything. For me it really does not get much better than this.
NomDeBeer (155), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Oct 10, 2008 Popped the cork and it bounced off the ceiling. Aroma is lemon and grass. Color is a cloudy gold with a sizable, fluffy white head that diminishes but leaves nice lacing. Taste is lemon/lime citrus fruit plus moderate acidity and bitterness making this tasty and drinkable. Little to no funk in the aroma or flavor. Expensive but damn good. Geuzelambix (72), København, Denmark Oct 6, 2008 This is the shit! From the lush sound of the cork briskly leaving the bottle to the last remainds of geast in the bottom of the glas this beer is pure pleasure.
It has the acidity and the taste explosion of a world class gueze. Not a single flavor stands out, since it’s all perfect balanced.
A jewel for lovers of gueze. Gez (44), Georgia, USA Oct 6, 2008 Pours a hazy orange with an off white head. Aroma has hints of lemons and vinegar. Highly carbonated with a light feel. Taste is slightly bitter and sour with citrus taste. LilBeerDoctor (643), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 13, 2008 Bottle. Pours a light light orange with a small white head, lots of carbonation. Aroma of lots of tart, sour funk, sweettart candies, light banana. Aroma of nice sweet tartness. Not a lot of funk in this beer, just sour/sweet tartness. Very nice gueuze, very drinkable. fredandboboflo (635), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 13, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of barnyard, lemon, cherry, peach, maybe some sour apple. Flavor quite tart and sour (solidly but not abrasively so), slightly but not overwhelmingly funky. Tart grapes in the finish. Enveloping tickling tartness, yet stellar drinkability at once. Great stuff.
