at JimMack’s Invitational ’07. creamy whitish head, body is glossy and lightly cloudy golden color. light yellow at the edges. faintly sour/tart barnyard aroma, smooth. aged sour. good carbonation, flavor is very tart like under-ripe plums but not astringent or acidic. very clean finish and aftertaste, just tart. thanks Mike!

Bottle: Huge sour, must, and funky cheese aroma. It’s one of the funkiest smelling lambics I’ve ever had. It pours a slightly hazy golden-orange with a moderate white head. The taste is much more mild then the aroma lead me to believe. The flavor starts with a mild lemony and green apple sourness that increases in the finish with some light woodiness. Fizzy almost spritzy mouthfeel.

Bottle, bought at De Bierkoning in Amsterdam. This is rarer than I’d thought it would be... I’ve only seen it offered at a few places. Pour is clear gold with a nice white head. Aroma is a total failure, smelling like Parmesan cheese and little else. Flavor is very nice though, especially as it breathes. Strong sour up front, smooth, dry, gritty finish, perfectly balanced, a touch of that cheese at this point is welcome rather than foul. Goes down really easy. Fix that aroma and this would be world class.

Pretty awesome gueuze. 250ml bottle from Beer Mania in Brussels. Deep orange/amber color. Retains a nice foamy head, Lots of tangy citrus flavors...lemon, lime, sour green apple but not in an artificial way at all. True to style and quite recommended.

Golden with tiny head. Aroma is sour with horseblanket, hay, cheese and leather. Fantastic concentrated sour flavor with apples, citrus, wood, hay and barnyard. Fantastic. Vintage 2003 - Dark golden with small head. More mellow and rounded. Lost some sourness. 9, 4, 9, 5, 17 = 4,4

Bottle shared by beastiefan2k. Deep amber gold beer, lightly hazed with a thin white head. Fantastic aroma, farmhouse funk, lemon/lemongrass, strong acidity, barnyard. Very tart but a bit brighter than Cantillon, leaning more towards lemon and citrus. Earthy and dusty. Great balance and loads of character. Awesome brew.

750ml bottle from beerbuzzmontreal, I love you French Canadians, thank you so much. Shared with lots of people at JoeMcPhee’s for CaptainCougar comes to NY. Yellow/orange colored body and poured with a medium head that quickly fades. Aroma is super strong spicy sourness, so damn stingy on the nose. Taste is much more subdued sourness with a strong lemon aftertaste. Very spiky motuhfeel but otherwise a light body. Long aftertaste of sour fruit. A very acidic beer, as acidic as some Cantillon’s but with its own signature. A delicious sour packed, not for first timers, punch in the face, beer.

Courtesy jayg. Hazy gold and a modest, frothy, white head. Huge aroma of the funk, very sharp citrus and pine, subtle vinegar, earth, and oak. Same flavor, a bit more mild. Medium body, balanced carbonation. Very nice.
