Nose struggles to give much but the palate mostly delivers with citus and sour fruits. A slightly dirty finish marrs an otherwise reasonable beer. Doesn’t have the intense sourness and bracing acidity (IMHO) of top flight gueze. henrikb (1303), Aarhus, Denmark
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2006 There is something very strange about drinking a clear Gueuze! Clear cobber colored body with a white head; Deep and complex aromas, they are of cause Gueuze-like, but in a very strange way: to fat and to warm ripe apple, wet hay and wood; The body has a soft texture with a little sharp carbonation, only very little acidity; It finishes long, a bit dry, but only very little sour, aromas of warm sweet rotten apples, wet rotten oak, generally it is to sweet and not sour enough. Simple and to me not very pleasant nor interesting. Not at all what I expect from the brewer who makes my favorite beer! rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 4, 2006 Yellow gold color, with a huge white head, with lacing, the nose has a nice tart, acidic note , with barnyard and dusty accents, hint of mustiness, wet oakiness, with a faint cedary and green apples sourness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a mild sharpness character, with some light tart, acidic flavors, with some brettanomyces notes, good green apples sourness, hint of juicy lemony fruitiness, leading towards a real mild lambic dryness finish. Complex lambic aroma of cherry, brett, wood, earth, cave, and malic acid. In mouth, an astringent apple, acidic points, ground cherries, with some sweetness. Rich and complex. A wonderful lambic. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 10, 2006 Bottle. Clear golden in colour with a rather large head. Slight sourness with citric notes. A bit too anonomous though. Very mild and easy forgettable. beerbuzzmontreal (2916), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 7, 2006 The pour reveals a clear golden color with a medium white head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Excellent aroma of hay, musty cheese and strong, funky wild yeast. The flavor is also excellent and has the same hay, musty cheese and funk, of course, it is acid, it is really well balanced and classy, the flavor finishes sour and lactic. The body is medium with a powdery and oily texture, the carbonation is medium but strong for a gueuze. This is an excellent gueuze, it’s only flaw is that it’s not as good as the black label version.
