The aroma is very strange: old cellar, with some plastic, magnesia and a hint of citrus fruits. The first sip is mellower than expected, then the real character comes out, being more astringent than sour, with a final touch of grapefruit. It’s quite different from the other Gueuze, but maybe not really complex and unforgettable. pivo (2537), Germany

Then a strong tart sourness. Gritty, grassiness in feel. Bitter and dry end, like an orange peel or fresh date. Full body. Quality beer for sure. argo0 (6994), Washington DC, USA

Nice acid vinegar and spruce nose. It also has a huge cheese nose. Nice medium intense ioron, grapefruit taste with some earthy tonse. Puckering but in a nice way. Great dry finish - chalky. I was quite suprised. Hansen (2289), Randers, Denmark

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2005 (Bottled) Clear, deep golden color with a small, tight head. Sourish, somewhat acidic, fruity aroma with apricot and slight sweetness. Quite strong, initially sour but slightly sugary-sweet fruitiness. A decent gueuze, but slightly too sugary. Still quite balanced and enjoyable. ChristianSA (368), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 4, 2005 Bottled. This is called Girardin Gueuze 1882, but it has a white label, so I guess it is the same. Wonderful white lasting head on a crystal clear, amber beer. Aroma is sharp and acidic. Flavor is more mild than the aroma indicates and it seems that there are some caramel sweetness present (which is also found in the Faro from this brewery). Ends dry with a metallic aftertaste. Quite refreshing - the fruitiness and the malt profile makes it quite drinkable. wunderbier (1271), Tampere, Finland
