The aroma is sour and funky and can be smelled from a distance. The taste is sour, woody and apply. But then there’s a dry farty woodiness. I wonder if this is down to the filtering as Gueuzes are usually so much fresher tasting. HenrikSoegaard (4364), Randers, Denmark

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 4, 2008 bottle given to me by a firned who picked one up for me recently on a trip in Belgium. Typical hazy yellowish color. Lovery Barnyard aroma, but it’s lacking a bit in bite. The flavour is a nice sooth funk, but a little dubbed down, i can see why this isnt as high as the Black Label. Still very good, but not as bold as the black. kkearn (1010), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 2, 2008 375mL bottle. Poured hazy reddish-orange with a moderate sized tan head that faded quickly. Aroma at first whiff was sweet and sour sauce, but further inspection reveals more wild, tart aromas along with some sharp lactic notes. Background flavor is primarily tart and acidic, with some nice accents of lemon, sour apple, oak, and traditional barnyardy notes. Not overly tart. Finishes dry, with tartness lingering on my lips and palate. Underrated Gueuze. Nuffield (2724), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 31, 2008 Dusty aroma. Not super-sour. Stinky cheesy flavor as it melts in your mouth but gives you some tangy sharpness, in part induced by the fizziness. Not the best of the Girardin bunch, but perfectly enjoyable. beermouth (435), Langeskov, Denmark

Nice funky smell, with notes of barnyard, tart apple, and slight lemon. Taste is nice and sour with some oak, and this underlying sweetness that lingers in the background. Very lively on the tongue, with a good finish. I usually don’t like sours, but I’ve loved both the Black and White labels from Girardin. Dedollewaitor (3746), Odense, Denmark
