Bottle. Clear, deep red, little head. Tart, cherry cake aroma, a bit waxy, with maraschino. Sparkling cherry cider flavor with some artifical cherry notes. Something of a saccharine finish. All in all, quite good.

Clear red bodied beer, no particles, medium stable pink head. Sur, cellar, alcohol, sugar, strawberry aroma. Sour and yeasty flavour, but with quite prominent cherries. Rather short finish.

Pours a dark amber red with light brown foam. Aroma is undescribable ... the closest I can get is that it’s kinda like the elephant house in zoo. Nice sour cherry taste, right down my alley. I am tempted to give this top grade, but I’ll refrain since I know there are even better krieks out there :-)

From the bottle.

Pours a nice sparkling red with a pervasive light-pink head. The aroma is dominated by diacetyl; behind this, some cherry, some musty cellar, some hippo-house.

The flavor is tart but not overwhelmingly so, musty but not strikingly so, way too much artificial-butter-flavoring, and I have to agree with SilkTork that this one comes off as dull relative to some of the better examples of the style.

Nevertheless, it’s a passable offering and given the magnitude of reported variation I won’t mind trying another bottle at some point down the road, at least not if I can get it for something similar to the 2.30 pounds I paid here here Britain.

(Bottled. 03/2006). A good kriek that suffers from a too-strong presence of diacetyl. Hints of cherry in the background dwarfed by the scents of butter. Combination lends itself of a cherry-pie taste that is quite pleasant.
