Huge thanks to beastiefan2k for schleping this bottle back from belgium - beautiful red pour, with a frothy, well-sustained pink head - complex and interesting aroma, with earthy cherry (mostly pits and skins, but some of the fleshy sweetness, too), some acidity, and a very mild cheesy funk, giving the slightest impression of yogurt or aged stilton with dried fruit - lightly sour and briny up front, with fairly apparent oak - cherry sweetness comes quickly afterwards, though, which combines with the moderate tartness to make the beer kind of tangy, with some light earthy pit flavors - this sweetness is actually pretty short-lived, though, as a mild wild quality brings back the cheesy/funky character from the aroma - the fruit skin flavors stick around, so the finish reminds me of wine-soaked goat cheese - it is a tiny bit sweet through the middle, but man is it a complex and interesting experience - thanks, eugene!

1st rating of Belgian trip on 5/16/08.
Pours a beautiful dark reddish pink color, cannot see through the beer which has very little clarity. A small but strong head forums and never goes away. Aroma is musky, wet cherry then a deep dark cherry sweetness with some pity, lightly tangy fruitiness. Taste is sweet, a little fruit juice like, with a faintly barrel, faintly wild, seltzer finish. Very refreshing and easy drinking, but a biit too sweet and un-sour for me. Nice stuff, leaves a musky cherry aftertaste.
375mL bottle @ Beer Mania in a 3 Fonteinen traditional lambic tumbler.

Bottle, bought @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Cph.
[vintage 2003]
Pours deep, deep red with a medium, frothy off-white head. Very funky aroma, lots of citric tartness, light cherry sweetness. Rather high carbonation, but still a wonderful mouthfeel. Flavour is wonderfully tart, spritzy at first, then a very sweet and fruity middle before a wonderful dry, citric tartness sets in. A good lambic, though it is a bit too carbonated.

[1140-20080229] 750mL. Wet stinky socks and shoes smell has a light fruity funk throughout. Hazy, dark brown red body with a big long-lasting foamy light pink head. Flavour has light fruity low notes, plain cherry middle notes and a sweet malt background. Medium body is very smooth. Very interesting, though not as sour as expected. (6/4/9/4/16) 3.9

[1165B-20080301] Tap. Cookie dough yeasty bread aroma has some fruit in the background. Clear, dark red body with a quick creamy light pink head. Cherry pie bread base flavour has good sourness and a good bready aftertaste. Light-medium body. Nice balance of sour and cherries. (8/4/9/3/17) 4.1

375ml bottle. Poured cherry red with a massive foamy, off-white head. Aroma of tart fruit and almonds, Plenty of fruit in the flavour with a fair bit of sweetness and a short dry finish. Good, but not the best kriek lambic by a long way.
