Commercial Description:
The original brewed Lambic. Letting this beer age for 1, 2 or 3 years and mixing those for fresh Lambic makes a Gueuze. A Gueuze is also bottle conditioned which gives it carbonation. The Lambic however is complete flat without bubbles. Available only in draught form.

Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Girardin Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Girardin Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik". If in doubt, message JorisPPattyn.

Draft @ De Kiek, Vlezenbeek. Pours a clear copper color with no head. Has a fruity slightly tart funky barnyard aroma. Fruity tart grapefruit flavor. Has a fruity tart and sour finish with some woody hints.

Cask gravity at GBBF ’09. Thanks to Mes for this classic. Gold. Deep, sour taste, strong but by no means challenging.

Cask@GBBF 2009. Clear amber color, no head. Apricot fruity, tart nose. Very fruity: dried fruits like mango, apricot. Tart of course. Some funky, cellary notes. Tasty "basic lambic".

Handbottle that puzzl brought up to BCTC, and I was glad he did as I’d missed out on his unblended tasting due to scheduling conflicts. Pours a clear ruby brown. Still, no head. Vinegar and caramel. Quite sweet. Thin to medium bodied. Nice vinegar and funk.

Clean and bronze with no head. This beer is bright and vibrant to the nose with a depth brought on by some woody characteristics. In the mouth it is most reminiscent of orange juice that is on the turn. It is smooth and silky, Deep and yet outrageously quaffable and topped off with a sweet finish.

Another 10L box courtesy of puzzl. Pale amber pour. The aroma is lightly tart and fruity but with loads of apple aroma on the nose. A soft lightly sour maltiness but it’s not all that crazy. A fairly soft/sweaty nose. Lightly caproic and funky with a chewy goaty character. The sweetness lingers quite a bit giving it a faro-esque character. There is a bit of caramelly chewiness on the back as well. I can’t say I’m a fan of this one.

Hand bottle from Puzzl thanks for saving some for me to try, i owe you one! Pours a golden amber body with an off white head. Honey floral apple like funk and a sweeter woody finish. Decent.
