Commercial Description:
The original brewed Lambic. Letting this beer age for 1, 2 or 3 years and mixing those for fresh Lambic makes a Gueuze. A Gueuze is also bottle conditioned which gives it carbonation. The Lambic however is complete flat without bubbles. Available only in draught form.

Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Girardin Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Girardin Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik". If in doubt, message JorisPPattyn.

Tap @ Plan B., Cph.
Pours clear golden with no head. Aroma is tart, but with a sugary sweetness and lots of oaky wood. Almost completely flat, small, tiny bubbles on the tongue. Flavour is softly tart, lots of fresh oakiness, good lactic sourness and funkiness. Stays on my teeth all the way through!

Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation 2008. 12-18 months old. Clear and still honey color. Nose of wet dog, honey, light perfumed fruit, etc. Vinuous up front with some medium-sweet malt (honey, sugar), then gets a little prickly over the middle. Very mild, quiet and clean, and vinuous and soft. Not nearly as good as the jong, which was spectacular, but still quite serviceable. Lacks the cheesy-feet funky smell of the younger version, and is more wine-like as well.

[1166-20080301] Cask. Mild yeasty sourness and wet plant aroma. Clear, brown yellow body with quick white bubbles. Mildly sour yeast flavour with a hint of malt in the background. Medium body is fairly smooth. Good and interesting to try but not exactly unique here.

Clear dark-yellow amber color. Tartness in the nose and flavours. A bit musty. Sticky mouthfeel. Long lasting sourish aftertaste.
