Boutip (1745), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Aug 20, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Secret Santa: Poured a deep brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of fruity sweet ester with some dry fruits and some candi sugar. Taste is also a very nice mix between some dry fruits such as figs and raisins as wall as sweet fruity ester that are totally perfect for the style. Full body with limited filtration with some perfect carbonation and no discernable alcohol. Very complex but easily drinkable at the same time, definitely a beer that I would like to have access to regularly. ratman197 (2242), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jul 28, 2008 750 ml bottle poured a hazy brown with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of carmel, brown sugar and fig. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, toffee, brown sugar and fig with a smooth dry fruity finish. BoBoChamp (618), Gent, Belgium Jul 28, 2008 75cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex Winter brew, hazy, good head, very good Scotch omhper (10393), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 10, 2008 Bottled. Hazy dark brown, small beige head. Caramelly malt dominatet he nose. Sweeting with soothing cottony soft mouthfeel. Slimmer than expected but still full of toffee and with cranberry tartness. The finish holds some spun sugar but no bitterness. Mild, yet flavourful with no edges whatsoever. Both interesting and enjoyable. jrob_21 (840), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 22, 2008 On tap at the brickstore. Poured a deep black with a bit of an auburn hue. Offwhite head. Aroma reminded me distinctly of a belgian wild yeast and a little bit of fruit. The flavor was interesting in that the colder it was, the more fruit you got with some plum and licorice. As it warmed some more wheat, yeast, and bread flavors came through. Medium bodied with a decently long finish. The finish is where you get most of the scotch style character with that flat cola and candi sugar sweetness that it leaves. Decent but I’ve had better of this style.
