Bottle at The Great Western in London. Poured a ivory head, sparse lacing, transparent, and an orange hue. Alcohol aroma. Flavor was sweet, vinuous, and tart. Mouthfeel was tingly along with a burning sensation.

Can from Stirchley Co-op, Birmingham. Lageresque but sweeter and stickier. The extra power only really asserts itself on the finish, which is unexpectedly smooth and gentle; though the chest is warmed. Not the greatest flavour, but balanced and easily suppable (worryingly). I was dreading this is in a way, thinking it would be a nightmare, but it’s not that bad.

The DM & Hotstuff’s European Honeymoon trip beer number 114. This bottled brew marked best before 11/04 poured a large sized head of frothy fine to medium sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind an unnoted lacing. The body contained soft carbonation, was transparent and golden brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of vinous malts. Its mouth feel is initially smooth with a lingering vinous palate and a malty aftertaste. Its flavor contained vinuous malty doughy notes that really sneak up on you buzz wise. An above average brew.

Amber coloured with a strong sense of alcohol which you would expect from a beer of this strength.Surprisingly drinkable as I am not a great barley wine fan although I do have a sweet tooth that helped a bit.

Bottled, pasteurised. Pale amber carbonated beer with fizzed head. Sweaty, damp mould type flavour, wet cardboard comes to mind and a sweet sugary mouthfeel.

Canned. Full golden colour, fast disappearing head. Strong alcoholic and malty aroma, notes of honey, sweet malt and again alcohol in the palate. Dryish aftertaste.

Tasted from a 330-ml can: not a bad barley wine, I didn’t expect much from this interbrew beer, but it is quite a pleasant beer, not bad at all. Light amber color, alcohol in nose and taste. Some fruit, it has a bitter finish (not so very nice). Sweet malts. Warming beer.
