ratman197 (2362), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jun 24, 2005 Bottle poured a hazy reddish-brown with a small amber head. Aromas of raisins, fig, and dark fruit. Flavors of toffee, dark fruit {raisens, fig], and pepper. Has a nice bittersweet finish. soyorganic (130), Denver, Colorado, USA Aug 27, 2008 On tap at falling rock: red, amber color little head. Aroma of coffee, molases and some plum juice. Taste/feel: very sweet malt taste slight notes of chocolate cherry. Low carbonation, vinous feel. This is the smoothest tasting barely wine I have had. Very nice. JorisPPattyn (4507), Antwerpen, Belgium Oct 1, 2003 (draught) Deep red - tawny brown. Very slim ring figuring as head. Fruity (plums, grapes), estery, vinous, woody nose. Bitter-sweet-sourish taste, obvious very good balance; also between wood, fruityness (orange, grape/raisins). Ever so slightly oily mouthfeel. Alcohol is evident. This beer tastes as if aged in the wood. Slightly tart, fruity, and full mouthfeel keeps hanging around for a long time afterwards. Definitely a beer more than worth seeking out. jimbowood (738), Athens, Georgia, USA Oct 17, 2007 Draft @ Falling Rock. One of the best offerings I sampled @ Falling Rock during GABF 2007 week. Nice and malty w/ a touch of molasses. Very good. Kevin (1765), Colorado, USA Dec 29, 2007 it is getting to the point that i can’t leave the falling rock without drinking a pint of this. purplish brown body, decent looking yellowed head. lots of raisin and plum with a strong cotton candy scent. very sweet, rich malt flavors with a lot of fruits. molasses or brown sugar or something is there that mixes well with the light hop flavors that are a bit citusy and a little resin pine, but overwhelmed by the candy fruit notes and the just plain massive malt flavors. i’m just loving it more since i am burned out on all the over hopped offerings lately.
