Nose is off-putting metallic and rotting vegetables and detergent with a little spice and pepper. Flavor is - well - not very good. Initially (quite cold) had some pilsener malt character - almost immdiately after the initial sip, it was Gym socks and some soured/dying hop bitterness and just an overall unpleasant funkiness to it......................I’m hopeful it was a bad/old bottle, since I generally love GC’s brews. Will try again next time I’m @ the brewery, but this one was a drainpour after the first sip. drjay44 (792), Salida, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 8, 2009 22 oz. bottle. Pours a thin white head, of short duration, over a clear, pale yellow (SRM 3) body.....nose of mild malts, bit of cereal, minimal hint of noble spice....tastes strongly of cereal (Grapenuts) early, leading to mild hop bitterness which gently lingered....mouth feel is light, carbonation medium. This has all the characteristics of the style, but they are done with a very light hand. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2008 Draft at the brewery. Mostly clear brass yellow colored body, a slight haze noticed. Fresh cracked pils malt nose, some snappy cracker character, some light honey sweetness noticed, a light touch of what resembles noble hops. Well balanced and smooth texture. Subtle honey sweetness up front with some drying over the middle and back. No flaws noticed, subtle and quiet overall, easy to drink. Headbanger (1589), Aurora, Illinois, USA
