Crosling (1635), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jul 6, 2008 Golden/bronze color with a small ring of foam. Pure and raw hop smell. Quite a bit of pine and spruce, as well as some herbaceousnes and medicinal qualities from the hops in the nose. Flavor is dominated by hop character. Super hoppy in the flavor with a blend of oily and raw hops with pine-like notes. It’s got a great hop character to it. I wish it were a little more grapefruit-like and citrusy, with a little more malt character. But as it is right now, its has a really nice authenticity and dryness, with a really impressive hop character. Overall, it’s quite good.
BlackForestCO (501), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA Jul 7, 2008 Bottle shared by mentor, thanks man. Poured a clear golden-amber color with a thin off-white head that faded to a ring. Slightly sweet, piny hop aroma with some garlic-like spice. Smooth, lightly sweet entry abruptly transfers into an earthy, moderately bitter hop hit with some leafy flavor and some light pine resin rounding out a moderately bitter finish. Moderate hop bitterness, lacking a bit of carbonation. Ernest (4216), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 7, 2008 Bottle.
Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, fully diminishing.
Body is clear light amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), lightly yeasty (dough, sweat).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
One dimensional, virtually no head, watery, citric, and seems boozier than it is. Not impressed. waolsen (955), Littleton, Colorado, USA May 3, 2008 tap at brewery. glowing copper pour with frothy head and lacing. earthy hip, caramel aroma. grassy hops, sweet malts, a little heavy but nice. ratman197 (2258), Arvada, Colorado, USA Mar 19, 2008 On tap @ Golden City Brewery poured a clear golden amber with a lasting off white head.
