BeerandBlues2 (2379), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Apr 15, 2008 Draught at 6th Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Pours clear amber with a small, fizzy, white head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (grain, hay, straw), heavy hops (flowers, perfume, pine, resin, grapefruit), average yeast (sweat) with notes of pear and peach. Medium bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. BlackForestCO (478), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA Apr 13, 2008 On tap. Poured a yellow-copper color with a thin white head that stuck around for a bit. Aroma of earthy, bitter hops with some citrus. Flavor consists of some malts, mostly grain and caramel, that lead into a earthy, slightly piney, citrus hop finish. Although it claims to be 150-ibu’s, it isn’t very bitter. Decent, just not as ass-kicking hoppy as I expected after reading the description. waolsen (918), Littleton, Colorado, USA Apr 14, 2007 Updated: May 3, 2008tap at falling rock. copper. thin head. huge fresh grassy, earthy, funky hop and perfume aroma. bitter beer face instantly. wet, sticky fresh hops. citrus. good malt backing but they can’t match the dump loads of hops. balance is all out of wack. I don’t really know what to think about this beer.
tap at brewery5/1/08. listed at 9.3 abv. much better than the first time I sampled this. delicious, full body, herbal, sticky malts and great balance. Almost a totally different experience. Lately I’ve been impressed with GC Brews. Crosling (1598), Loveland, Colorado, USA Apr 7, 2007 Draught @ the Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Impressively hoppy nose. Great Double IPA. drewbeerme (1710), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 7, 2007 sampled on tap at the 5th Boulder Strong Ale Fest. pale. pnw hops. balanced okay. too bitter. not as bad as what other’s have rated it.
