hayduke (1620), Eureka, California, USA Sep 21, 2009 From a 22 oz bottle this poured black with a moderate tan head and light lacing. Nose is of roasted malts with some chocolate aromas. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is more malts than hops, and the finish is a bit grainy. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Mar 14, 2009 Bomber from Market of Choice that I had to pick up due to the fact that I went to Dundee Elementary school. Nice dark brown pour with a small white head. Flavor isn’t bad, some roast and chocolate and the aroma is actually pretty good as well, but there’s a definite astringency to the beer that’s very off putting. Regardless though, I’ll keep supporting these (almost) my home town breweries until Newberg gets a brewery of its own. Hahaha, like that’ll ever happen. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Mar 8, 2009 Bottle. Black pour, thin beige head. Malty and roasty aroma that is also a bit sour. Sour flavor with malt and yeast. Not a big fan of sour in my beers, especially in a porter. Not seeing this in anyone else’s rating, so maybe this bottle was infected. Will re-rate if I have it again and it tastes different. Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA Dec 2, 2008 good solid beer not a bad brew. Lovely smell I liked this one a wolud drink again stchloe (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 25, 2008 A porter, nothing more and nothing less. Less hop but same ABV compared to others. Not a malty smooth finish, but just barley. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 28, 2008 On tap at GVB in McMinnville, OR--Poured a deep black body with a tiny circular head. Rich, robust coffee-chocolate nose that was thick and sweet. Creamy, java flavor. Lingering sweet, gritty coffee and chocolate flavors. Awesome! Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 25, 2008 Draft. A pitch black beer with a brown shine under a tan head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, as well as medium notes of soy sauce and light notes of whiskey. The flavor is sweet and very malty with notes of soy sauce and whiskey as well as lighter notes of chocolate, and a light alcohol burn, leading to a dry woody finish. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Apr 13, 2008 Bomber. Pours opaque blackish brown with tan head. Medium-light body and moderate carbonation. Chocolate and a bit of molasses in the taste. The taste is roasty malt, chocolate, molasses, and just a little pine in the not very bitter finish. Not too complex, but not too bad.
