Aromas are slighty fruity smokey and full of rich cocoa. The flavor has a nice chocolate burnt coffee flavor and a rich creaminess that makes for a wonderful mouthfeel. fatty (363), Perkiomenville, Pennsylvania, USA

The massive roastiness and very smooth thick body of this beer really caught your attention. Chocolate flavor up front, rolling into a silky smooth body that had the texture of being poured on nitro, though it wasnt. This finished off with a nice coffee bitter end. Very nice porter. hopdog (5601), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 12, 2005 Poured a dark black with a very small sized tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, coffee and toffee. Tastes of chcoolate, caramel, roast and light coffee. Thinner body. I think we saved this one from going completely bad as the aroma and taste had a sourness lurking in the background. TomDecapolis (3176), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits and some coffee. The flavor is strong in the smoke with some dark chocolate and slightly sour. Some of the guys I sampled this one were thinking the beer may have gone slightly south. I enjoyed it. argo0 (6907), Washington DC, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 5, 2005 (22oz bottle) Small beige head atop a black cola body. Aroma is medium sweet, roasty, coffee, tobacco, light chocolate, earthy/grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, coffee, nutty, roasty, some earthy, lactic acid, light salty. Medium body, some oiliness, light acidity. Seems a cross between a schwarzbier and a porter, unusual but pleasant. BBB63 (4232), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2005 Bottle: Deep brown with ruby highlights. The head was fizzy and quickly disappeared and left little to no lace. The aroma has roasted and burnt malting, bittersweet mocha, coffee, raisin, aromatic pipe tobacco, floral grassy hops, and a dusty and slightly cheesy yeast ester. The taste starts with the standard sweet and chocolate malt and a hint of fruit. The finish does display some bitters, coffee, and smoke. The aftertaste is weird, the same cheesey note is there, but this is more akin to a smoked cheddar. Something different but good. Hence the vast difference in ratings seen below me thinks. The feel is indeed fizzy but there is an oily character that adds some depth. Not a beer some will like because of the off-flavors, but when thought of more like a mild smoked milk porter, it seems nature. Somehow I sort of dig this. Thanks Joe for the bottle. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 10, 2005 Slightly roasty, largely sweet and more of a roasty schwarzbier than a porter due to its thinness, but let’s not quibble. I think this is a delicious, extremely malty brew with a touch of sourness to add to the complexity. Utterly delicious. Very much my thing, as I love malty, sweet Scottish Ales. Sensational chocolatey aroma. Its only weakness is it’s a touch overcarbonated, perhaps. Nevertheless, I LOVED this brew!!!!! Keep up the good work guys.
