GermanBrews76 (667), Eugene, Oregon, USA Mar 4, 2004 this really isnt that special to me. Grainy, somewhat sweet, tart ripe fruits, hints of caramel, cream and apples. Dense creamy off white top to a vibrant amber body. Soft, ceramy mouthfeel exits dry with some stickyness. Sweet caramel and rather bland. some woody notes and dry grains reamain. BückDich (4785), McCall, Idaho, USA Feb 9, 2004 Pale gold, tons of lacing, very sticky, light head. A bit of malts in the aroma, some caramel & alcohol. Flavor has lots of light fruit with a touch of light malts. Quenching & true to style but a bit lacking in the finish, almost watery. Gromit (460), Port Orchard, Washington, USA Dec 20, 2003 This is a unique beer to me. The color is a burnt-orange/copper and very cloudy, making it look mysterious. Both the smell and the taste have strong apple characteristics almost like a cider but with hints of hops. The carbonation is moderate. It leaves a pleasant aftertaste. I was expecting more of a bock taste from the name/type (Geist Bock?) but it's not much like a bock at all, IMO.
Overall, a good beer and a nice change. While I dislike flavored beers, the hints of apple are actually suprisingly good. mj (4971), Colorado, USA Jun 27, 2003 Medium brown amber, sweet rice and wheat aroma. Roasted corn flavor, light malts and quite creamy. Perkeo (318), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 17, 2003 Off gold, verging on orange;small whit head, little bit o' lace. Caramel, marshmellow,, slight hop in the nose. Nice caramel and vanilla malt flavor with a slight woody/oxidized finish, slight though. Toffee, tang and background bittering in the finish. Good, but I still prefer the Saxer bock for best Oregon pale bock. Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA Jun 11, 2003 It took some time to find someone who had this for sale but i found one,now i await patiently the correct temprature for sampling this brew.Ahhh,it's ready.
Nice orange, red color, small white head that was short lived.Malty aroma mildly sweet and a small spice presence as well.Very nice flavor, sweet malt, spicey, lightly hopped, with a faint fruit presence, there is a very light alcohol hint to this brew but it seems to be fairly well hidden and just gives the slight hint of it's presence. The feel is very smooth with a malty, spicey, hop after taste that is quite pleasant. This is a great brew and highly drinkable in a large quantity IMO.I wish i had bought more then one,but i knowtheyhave alot more to sell so i know what my next order is going to contain. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Sep 23, 2002 Medium gold color. A medium to full-bodied lager style beer. Malty and somewhat hoppy. Good flavor, slightly sweet malts. Very smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is malty. VENOM (941), Connecticut, USA Sep 21, 2002 Hazy burnt orange. Thin, compact off white head. Light but steady carbonation. Faint aroma of sour apples, caramel and toasty malts. Initially tart and vaguely sour with a tiny edge of sweetness. Rock candy-esque. Crisp, smooth and fairly clean. Tart, fruity Weizenbock qualities but cleaner and with more of a lagered body. Medium thin body. Mild hop bitterness and flavor. Tartness is intriguing and very refreshing. Finishes creamier, tart and slick. Strange...but beautiful.
