stchloe (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 24, 2009 Very solid, pitch black stout. Sweet without the taste of ham. Served on a nitrogen tap, which could have been better but otherwise good. Slight malty acric taste finishes. Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 2, 2008 Draft. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of chocolate as well as notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and chocolate, leading to a dry roasted finish, where the roasted malt also lends it a slight acidity. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 28, 2008 On nitro tap at GVB in McMinnville, OR--Abysmal black body with a great creamy tan head. Sweet, nutty, roasted chocolate, toffee, boozy nose. Creamy, bright, crisp taste. Robust and very enjoyable. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA Nov 27, 2007 The name sure is appealing... But it just doesn’t really size up. Aromas of coffee and chocolate are there but they are disappointingly mild. Flavors are on he sweet side. Body is creamy. Finish is a bit too clean. linc33 (177), Albany, New York, USA Jul 2, 2006 Updated: Jul 11, 2006On tap at Golden Valley Brewery. Black. A nicely balanced stout, but no real standout flavours. Definitely didn’t get the richness of other oatmeal stouts I’ve tried. Chocolate tones, less than average bitterness. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA Jun 26, 2006 [Tap – Brewery]
Deep dark brown color no to little head. This was a Chocolaty, malty, roasty toasty brew. Loved the flavors and the used of malts. Had a good dry finish and a flavor to die for. Nitrogen induced so that really helps. This brewery knows dark beers the light stuff is for the non brewing crowed.
harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jan 2, 2006 This is going to be the beer that I order everytime I go to this brewery. Another big beer as far as flavor but I wish it has a little more alcohol. The flavor is rich and complex and full bodied. Subtle oatmeal flavors with alot of malt character and a rich cocoa creaminess CaptKirk (175), Hephzibah, Georgia, USA Oct 26, 2005 Started with the sampler of this. Came pitch black with a deep tan head. A sweet chocolate mocha aroma. Last sip finished as good smooth and creamy as the first. So, I had to have a pint of this. One problem I had with this beer is that I can’t get it in Georgia.
